Hi all,

This could be quite long and im a totally newbie to all these high tech phones lol

Ive been given a blackberry 9000 bold version, due to friends upgrade. It was on BT mobile contract and i am on o2 payg. I have put my sim card in the phone and every works wifi, bluetooth, internet browser, texting and calling and even comes up with 02 uk at the top of the screen.
However when i go to use apps ive downloaded such as app world, facebook etc it comes up with the data service is not operational?? I cant use bbm either, all my friends invites are pending and they say nothing is showing their end.
I have both the all rounder web tariff and blackberry bolt on tariff, 02 have text and taken money for both of these.
Ive searched the internet and have come up with a few things that maybe the phone needs to be unlocked? but if this was the case would i still be able to do all the stuff i have been?
Thought i see if any of you could help me before i give 02 a ring.
Thanks x

  • Take the battery out for 10 seconds, but it back in and see what happens.

If you have any problems - this seems to be the first thing to try.

Right, if things are still not working:

    Are you using wifi?

If not, then what kind of coverage are you getting?
In the top right of the screen you should see something like EDGE, edge, GPRS, gprs, etc.

EDGE: Can use the phone, send and receive email, PINs, SMS texts, and MMS messages, and use the browser with a high-speed data connection.

GPRS: Can use the phone, send and receive emails, PINs, SMS texts, and MMS messages, and use the browser.

edge/gprs/GSM: Can use the phone, send and receive SMS texts and MMS messages

    Hope that helps.
  • Thank you very much!! :) All is now working, why didnt i think of trying to take out the battery :o lol x
