It is not allowed to include packaging as the net weight of the contents, unless both weights are given. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
There are fairly strict alws on weights and the weights the manufacturer uses must be accurate
if you are sure the weights are wrong because they are weighing them incorrectly or purposelly under weighing then report it to trading standards.0 -
Just a quick update:
Got a letter from the company apologising profusely, with £4 worth of vouhcers included. Bought a £1.97 carton of soup from Tesco and handed over the vouchers, which scanned no problem. Which was nice.0 -

How much did it weigh?

I tested this with Princes Tuna, after reading a bit of the cheese thread.

Net weight was 185g, drained was supposed to be 130g. When I drained the liquid, I was left with 90g of tuna. Even with the small bits of tuna that come out with the liquid, it would still be far under the supposed weight. I tested more than one tin and out of a 4 pack, all were under 100g.
For every 4 pack, you'd have enough missing to fill a fifth tin to the proper measurement. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
It's possible that when you drained the liquid (brine or olive oil), you also drained some of the fish oil/juices and these may be classed as part of the total weight of fish.0
