Ahhhhh Dont know what to do?

I am off to Florida on the 1st September, I am a bit confused at what to do with currency and I am looking to get the best deal.

I currently bank with NatWest, & Santander I have just their standard accounts with visa debits.

I also have a post office credit card.

My plan was to take £1k cash converted into dollars. I have read all the guides and I don’t know what to do????

I have been looking at the postal currency sites, but I am a bit weary. I only have visa debit so they will both charge me 2.5/3% to use my debit to change to USD. Which leaves me with a bank transfer and there isnt any protection, are these sites safe?

My other though is to but my PO credit card into credit then withdraw the cash over there?

Any thoughts on the best way to go?

We leave for New York on Tuesday, I have just rung local tesco and they are offering a dollar rate of 1.5923 but did say will price match anyone better within a 5 miles radius. Thomsons are 1.60 today so think we are going to buy our dollars today. (When we went to Florida last year we took a fair amount of currency and divided it into envelopes for each day we were there - any we didn`t spend was transferred over to the next day) we actually brought a bit home with us...worked well for us and didn`t need to use our Saga cc.
Rates from what I have seen have creeped up very slowly over the past few days.
