help me find a new mobile must be pay as you go, on 3 and the ability to use skype

Not asking for much i know....... We have been looking to get new phones we currently have skypephones s2 with 3 and we really use the skype a lot as its free:). But our phones are starting to not charge as long and my husbands switches itself off a lot.

We have been looking but all the new phones specs don't even mention skype availability. I popped into carphone warehouse today (not much choice where we live) and asked and pml he was talking about the most exspensive phones as being the only ones that would be now. Cheaper ones being hit or miss due to different versions not being compatible! Cheapest quotes was £465! Well being particularly tight thats not going to happen. He said (salesman speak me hopes!) there is a lot of incompatibility problems with other phones at the moment.

I have looked it up on three website and when you go into planet 3 through your mobile you can download skype as an application. Looking through my current mobile i can see this easily .

So just hoping people can suggest a phone they have that lets them use skype no problems. budget is a max of £150 each but we do like a bargain so not ruling out cheaper ones!!!

They wanted to rob you. I guess they meant some internet-enabled phones that can use skype the same way as PCs. Generally, all smartphones can do this and the prices start from well below £100. However, Skype wouldn't be 'free' in this case as you have to pay for mobile internet. Also, not all providers allow using mobile internet for skype. Don't know about '3'.

hmmm my phone still has iskoot on it and its working.

three say on the website
skype if you get it through planet 3 its free if you download it from elsewhere it will use your data allowance.

Crafty so and so's its worse than we were guessing. My handset ain't to bad but my husbands keypad is extremely worn. we wanted something a bit more modern might keep going with these a little longer.

just checked with someone else there skype has not worked for ages. They went into planet 3 store and apps and clicked skype and it said sorry this handset it not compatible anymore. ring this number to see what is.

thanks chillsky but that looks to basic and its a year old it might not even work with skype now with all the changes.

on the three website if you look at contracts the skype symbol is there yet you look on pay as you go same phones and they don't give you a clue We might get one and test it!

according to 3 website the sony erriccson cedar is 39.99 and does skype?

my PAYG phone still does skype.

the key point for the op is to keep the sim card you have already on the tariff, as I don't think the new tariff comes with skype. next you need a phone that is compatible with 3s skype app, pretty much all 3 branded mobile phones work, make sure a phone is compatible using this form, also consider buying a compatible phone cheap from somewhere like CEX like I did.
