when I ordered online, there was no drop down list of specific delivery times, it was all set to standard delivery for the large item washing machine. express delivery could not be selected-all I could choose from was as to whether I wanted them to install the new machine with their delivery connect and recycle service. They have my phone number and email address already, perhaps I can pan it out for a few months too (forget about it/not constantly call their 0845 'helpline') ...and then finally go to the newspaper, lol :) I would doubt that they would be that interested though as after googling argos up ...

.....from an argos customer in 2003 http://www.dooyoo.co.uk/offline-shopping-misc/argos/423457/
"the home delivery service and customer service is absolutely abysmal. One month ago I placed an order for a Daewoo fridge/freezer on 10 DAY delivery. £200 was taken from my account and I waited for the phone call to arrange a delivery date. And waited.... And waited.... And waited.... After 3 weeks I phoned Argos "customer service" department. There was a problem. We didn't call you? Oh we're terribly sorry, but don't worry, you'll definately have your fridge/freezer within 10 days. Okay. Good. A month since ordering then. The next day I get a call - Problems with the supplier, there's going to be a 5 week delay.
    5 WEEKS?!"

"I suffered the worst delivery from Argos anyone could expect It took over 6 weeks from begining to end £18 in phone calls as its an 0845 number, as most calls where at least 20 mins long.
I kept getting damaged items or incorrect items or part order. I had to wait in all day for a total of 8 days over the time period as delivery could be anytime as I wasn't given even an am or pm time.
As the items where only on home delivery I didn't have much choice. I would not recomend Argos delivery to anyone."
    .....and from http://www.blagger.com/db4/company_id/321/companyname/Argos-+-Argos-Direct.html
"I am STILL WAITING to be refunded. every-time you call you just get a standard " please wait seven days" please wait another seven days" etc etc then told "your refund failed for some reason please wait another seven days" "

If I dont get anywhere tomorrow I will call that 01785 710253 number, as Im now worried that if I went for a refund that could take months also unless I contacted a solicitor, lol. if they tell me they cant help as I am in a queue and ill have to call 0845, then I really wont know what to do next :( thanks.

update:- I called 01785, it turned out to be exactly the same as 0845, but hopefully no where near as expensive. The above was the wrong department (furniture, lol) and although I was transferred to the right dept, I was fobbed off yet again.. ZZz.. and put on hold whilst they (supposedly) tried to contact their delivery company-then told they couldnt get through and they would call back. That was at 2pm, no call back yet, lol. My own fault really, as I should have then said that I could wait on the line, rather than agree to a 'we'll call back!', which was essentially the staff member telling me straight that they were lazy and would send an email to delivery instead ... I told them at the start that i was going away on the 10th, they replied straight away saying that the delivery company had me down as the 12th-whatever that meant (likely to be nonsense, as I havent had delivery contact me to even set up a date yet).

I found all the numbers for argos online (argos direct) on :-
    http://www.saynoto0870.com/search.php
The website states "Awarded Website Of The Day by BBC Radio 2, and featured on the BBC Radio 2's Jeremy Vine show and The Guardian."
..although I was still in a queue with 01785 710253, Im surprised being able to use that website to get through to them at a national rather than more premium rate is legal, but then they are the ones making money out of unhappy customers. So who is right there? I eventually called them later in the day-35 minutes on the phone on 01785 before being answered, they could not help as the department to speak to was supposedly closed. I now have to phone them tomorrow.. and its another 0845 number (that isnt on 'who calls me', they wouldnt give the direct line) to yet another delivery department. Last chance-if its not fixed tomorrow then its a refund, reclaim (phone bills) and possible rant in a few newspapers consumer departments to make them look good :)
