Argos didnt contact me to arrange item delivery-complain in store, online, or phone?

I ordered a large item from argos at the start of the month, and it stated on the receipt online that I would be contacted within 2 weeks to arrange a delivery date. I never did get that phone call or email.

I have heard that argos online are useless/slow when complaining to them, so I am wondering if can complain about the problem in-store (with a printed receipt of my online item) rather than phoning a possibly premium rate call centre? If I had incoming calls only on my homeline surely they would have to do it themselves? Some forums online have annoyed past customers with the argos helpline telling them that they should contact the item they should find out who the items original suppliers are, to find out why no delivery was arranged, but that is something they should be doing themselves in my opinion. What would you do? I have e-mailed argos but still no word as of yet. Thanks.

strange everytime i have ordered goods online with argos for home delivery it has given me the choice to chose a suitable delivery date. you need to add a contact number when you place the order as on the morning of the date you chose the delivery driver will call you with a time when he will deliver
  • just ring the number on the reciept, give them your order number and ask! You can do this at home (but use saynoto0870) or in store. (they use the same call system)
They should have rang you even if the delivery was going to be late just to let you know, maybe you missed the call or gave a wrong number out? it could just be a simple human error but either way ring them up and find out

    0845 640 2020

Not exactly premium rate, but I hate using 0845 etc., until Virgin stopped charging me extra to my call plan. Now it is included, I don't care so much. I believe BT also include 0845 numbers in their call plans.

But nonetheless, here is their geographical number for you:

    01785 710253

  • It turned out (after giving in and finally phoning) that they unsurprisingly had no communication between themselves and their linked delivery company for this area, so if I hadnt phoned I would never have received anything. Even though I ordered online, I should have phoned them on the very first day to set up a delivery date. So it may be time for them to update their website-instead of having "we will contact you within xx set date" on there after purchase, and also on the receipt email, since it obviously does not apply to all areas. Never mind! They have told me they will phone tomorrow to arrange a delivery time, to deliver on the tuesday. Even if I do get that call, and a delivery, it may be the last time I use their website to purchase any large items :)
  • update :( I never go the call that I was supposed to-instead, I was told by an argos dept member on the mon in an annoyed tone that due to them occassionally using a third party company for delivery, that now I will now have to simply "wait" for a phone call from the delivery company. I have been given no numbers to call anyone on. Thats 3 and a half weeks now, nothing.

I'd have cancelled the order by now.

    Yes you have.

    Read earlier posts. ;)
  • And of course remember that they are obliged (unless otherwise agreed) to notify you of any delay if they are not able to deliver to you within 30 days of the day after placing the order (requirement of the Distance Selling Regulations - section 19)

yes the same for me, I ordered a dishwasher yesterday and had to choose from a drop down menu of times for delivery and also had to provide a mobile number for argos to contact me on.
