A question for you tiling buffs - re: bathroom toilet

Hi all
This may be a silly question but i have just lifted the old lino and WBP ply from my bathroom with a view to laying new ply down on the floorboards and then tiling over with porcelain tiles.
The new height of the floor will be slightly higher (perhaps 5-10mm) than the old owing to the thickness of the new tiles. It may be even more if i choose a thicker ply to sit under the tiles.
Is this a problem for plumbing in a new toilet?
My worry is that when i go to connect the toilet to the soil pipe it will be higher up and wont fit properly!
What should i consider/plan before i start tiling.
We have not bought a new toilet yet..
Many thanks.

Just get a flexi fit connector to connect the loo to the soil pipe. They ate concertina'd so they'll bridge most gaps.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.

I would support andrew-b. An offset rigid is a better fit. they come in a range of offsets aswell so the choice is yours.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

Ha - you've obviously never had to replace one. Have you any idea how much ..... gets stuck in the corrugations and is never swept away. Ghastly, revolting things!!!mildred1978 wrote: »Just get a flexi fit connector to connect the loo to the soil pipe. They ate concertina'd so they'll bridge most gaps.
Agree with Andrew and Phil - use an offset rigid.

I have 4 loos in this house and 3 have flexi connectors, all replaced by us last year when they all got re-done. I was about 5 months pregnant and didn't suffer any ill effects. We actually have more issues with the rigid one we haven't gotten to yet.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.

Thanks guys. Rigid sounds good. I'll look in to that one next! Don't want corrugated poop!0

So what's the risk if you don't eat the effluent, wear gloves and don't aerosolise the material you're working with? Tiny otherwise you'd hear of plumbers dying left right and centre. There's a risk in crossing a road, catching a bus, eating, meeting people and everything we do yet we still get on with our lives and do them.
It sounds like you're creating a mountain out of a mole hill. What's next H&S legislation requiring office telephone sanitisers?0 -
No legislation yet Jaynne but my company uses office telephone sanitation!
Ridiculous if you ask me, give me a wipe and i could do if need be i suppose.
I think if you have had a rat incident then you will obviously be more wary but to be honest!

No you are. They are just horrid things altogether and from a plumbing perspective a pretty poor fit. Simple as that.It sounds like you're creating a mountain out of a mole hill. What's next H&S legislation requiring office telephone sanitisers?
