    Would that be the the Halifax reward account that you need to have a minimum deposit each month of £1000 in return for a £5 bonus? I was referring to the current account

    Yes, £5 reward, and no fees in sight. The standard current account also doesn't have any fees except for overdrafts, bounced payments etc. Don't know what account you had?!
    Debt free and staying that way! :beer:

    Well it's simple, disabled people should choose the bank with an accessible ATM nearest to them.

    And I suspect you could trace most of the reasons why people cannot have a full bank account back to poor personal behaviour: bankrupt in the past, uncreditworthy due to previous failures to budget, on benefits, etc.

    Firstly, disabled people shouldn't have to rely on one ATM provider simply as they're the only one with the closest access, disabled people do travel you know but need as many access points as possible to make their journeys feasible.

    Secondly, I like how you associate being on benefits with personal moral failure, which would come as a suprise to the many people being made redundant in the current economic climate as i'm sure they had no choice over the matter.

    Did RBS say why they had decided to change you over to the new account? I bank with RBS and have asked at several branches whether I would be changing and was told the new accounts are just for new customers and if you have an established account you won't be changed over. (have both a key a/c and a standard current a/c)

    What I meant was, have you asked them why it is changing? Not all accounts are being changed over so why yours? Have you said that you'd rather stay with them on your old account? If you go into a branch they might be able to help.
    There are obviously 2 "types" of people with accounts opened before July 2011: http://www.rbs.co.uk/personal/current-accounts/g2/terms.ashx
    and I was just wondering if they had told you their criteria and why you'd been "chosen".

    They stated in their email that the new account restricting link access is the one most similar to my existing account;

    "Having reviewed your existing account, we believe our new Basic Account is the current account in our new range that is most similar to your existing account. So, on 25 October 2011, we will change your Key Account to a Basic Account."

    All accounts will be changed over at some point over the coming months much to the annoyance of existing customers with Key/Step accounts.
