Sold 4 phones to CEX for £101...
My original selling order included some DVDs so I emailed them informing them that I would just like to sell the phones and they emailed me back saying I had to start the order again, so I did.
A few weeks later they emailed asking if I'd sent them and I replied that I had and straight away I received an email confirming they were testing them.
A few days later they emailed me and said they hadn't received them!
They've been ignoring my emails since then! I didn't send them recorded delivery

Why on earth not!!?
The only saving grace you have here is that they've acknowledged having the phones when they said they were testing them.
I'd write a strongly worded letter to their head office if I were you enclosing a copy of the email from them admitting they have the phones.0 -
Why on earth did you not choose recorded delivery0

The OP should have sent them special delivery which would have been fully tracked and if they hadn't arrived would have been insured for loss'The More I know about people the Better I like my Dog'

Recorded delivery would have been a waste as it doesnt track the majority of the time. Also with standard mail (which basically recorded is) mobiles are not. insured.

Recorded Delivery would have been sufficient as it would have documented when CEX received the handsets.
Special Delivery would be a waste of money, you can't claim on the postal insurance if the items have been delivered to the receipient, which CEX have already admitted to.0 -

Recorded delivery would not have been sufficient as it is not a guaranteed tracking service. It "may" have shown a signature at the other end, it may not. From experience (and from the majority experience on the ebay forums here) Recorded Delivery more often than not does not provide a signature, or proof of a packages arrival.
The only service with a 'guaranteed' signature from the recipient is Special Delivery.0 -

:rotfl: Not when I get a Special Delivery. Always left outside my front door!
And not CEX's fault that they got lost in the post. Should've sent Special Delivery0 -

Well, supposed guaranteed delivery anyway. I'm currently attempting to get a refund on some items sent special two weeks ago that have no signature receipt
But yes, this is little to do with CEX and everything to do with wrong postal choice.0 -
I think if you all read the OP's post properly you'll see that CEX originally said they had the items. Therefore it is CEX's fault not down to the postal choice of the OP. I am guessing that they have lost the items. The original email from CEX acknowledges receipt of the items and should therefore be acceptable as proof in any claim the OP has with CEX. A company can't acknowledge receipt and then later on say they never got them! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Correct!

Wrong. OP cannot prove the items were delivered. Had OP sent via the correct postal service OP could now prove beyond doubt that CEX had the items.

Its tentative at best.0 -

I don't see why it is tentative. The company have acknowledged receipt of the item. They can't just declare they never had it now they've lost it!
They may have made a mistake in their original acknowledgment but that is CEX's fault and not the OP's problem. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
