We was in NY this time last month OH booked it for my birthday, we sailed QM2 from southampton to New York, stayed at Waldorf Astoria for 3 nites flew back from JFK, best two grand we have spent for a holiday we booked with trailfinders, we loved it, we did top of rock, empire state, central station, ground zero shopping etc, we bought a hop on hop off bus ticket at bus stop grey lines service think it was 54$ each it lasted 48 hours it included 3 routes, the nite one was good as it went over to Brooklyn, Oh also there was a stop outside Waldorf which was handy for us.
I felt safer being in NY than i did in my own city last week.
Have a nice time.

Shouldn't really advise this caues its very annoying for the travel agent but if you don't know where to start go to your local travel agent tell them what your after get some advice off them, they can advise what there is to do in New York and how much it all costs. Then you can take this info have a look how much it would cost to DIY and see which is the best, if you decide not too buy off the TA as a package you could always buy parts of it off them so you've not wasted their time completely.0

I went to NY in March a couple of years back. We thought by going then we'd miss the cold winter. Well they had really bad snow, bitterly cold wind, around -9C, coldest place Ive been to my entire life. I was wearing about 5 layers plus a coat, snood, scarf, hat and all you could see was my eyes lol. So yeah make sure you get a good coat just incase!

It was fun to watch some people skiing around Central Park!
Oh and just to say the cheapest way to get from JFK to Manhattan is by the subway.
We paid £540 each, that included flights with BA and 5 nights at the Hilton Garden Inn Times Square, I would definitely stay there again.0 -
for flights for internal flights within the US
for hotels or this one (if you navigate to the US site, the rates would be cheaper but you'll need to pay in dollars, so you might need some fee free card handy) Hotels.com pricematch for you, that is if you're into the cashback kind of thing, but booking.com lets you cancel fee free on some bookings if you were to find a better deal elsewhere.
you can also have a good look at this site, they offer hotel discounts and it is quite substantial
They say priceline is good for hotels if you're into bidding.0 -
Using Trailfinders is a good idea as although I love to book everything myself now when I did our trip to California I used them for some of the accomodation and the flights. They have big buying power and I ve found them very knowledgeable and you can ring them for starting flights etc. The other flight finder I would use is skyscanner.net as you can use the month view for flight prices.
For my trip to New York I booked my flights with BA and they asked if they could quote for the hotel and I got a good price. I always now buy the most recent travel guide on the city I m visiting so I can research up for my trips. Don t miss Empire state and I can recommend the DK guide book as it shows you all the other skyscrapers by name on a plan when you re up there! As a special mark of the big day why not do a Helicopter trip over the city its a very different view and did nt cost us much. My other travel trip is visit trip advisor forum for New York.... experts on the city will advise on anything in great detail . I have had totally brilliant advice from people on their site. You can get cheap tickets for Broadway from the booth in Time SQ0 -
We booked our trip to NYC earlier this year for Feb (half term) during the BA.com sale during January (it was a spur of the moment thing!). For the flights and 3 nights at the radisson lexington it came to £950-ish. If you're willing to wait until the new year sales you might bag a bargain. If you want to get it booked now however I'd suggest booking directly on the airline website and then not looking at the price fluctuations again!
We flew into Newark and out from JFK - we both preferred the journey from Newark into Manhatten = found the train much more pleasant and easy to do than the subway (mainly because we couldn't get a direct connection from where we were staying, and just found it confusing!).0
