    Hi aevp,

I am certainly not aware that we deliberately stop customers internet from working in order to upsell and indeed am not sure how we would manage that. As macman has rightly pointed you can opt of marketing calls in MYACCOUNT. If that doesnt stop them then let me know and we will find a way of getting your details then I can contact the marketing team directly for you.

    Ady

I would have thought that you could state categorically that you do not do this, not just that you are unaware of it!

  • Hi Macman

I will try not to rant, but to remain calm and I have made an effort to write down all information regarding error messages this time. So here goes.........it's happened again.

Monday 29th and Tuesday 30th Aug I was disconnected again. Funny, it was a Monday and Tuesday last time too - maybe that's just a coincidence.

    Error messages included:-

Internet Exp cannot connect Talk Talk. Int Exp cannot display the webpage. Int Exp cannot connect to webmail tiscali.

Rang TT Tech Support - couldnt get through. Rang Sales - gave me new number for Tech Supp.

Call 1 - Loads of talk and numbers to choose from then passed to a survey about customer service, then cut off.
Call 2 - Same again - put through to survey not an 'agent who can help'.
Call 3 - rang sales - put me through to Tech Support - 'We have a high volume of calls please hold'. I eventually hung up.
Call 4 - rang sales again - told them of my previous calls and asked them to be of assistance. Was told it was probably my router and as I was an ex Tiscali customer I should ring another number.
Call 5 - rang this new number which put me back to the Call 1 scenario - customer service survey.
Call 6 - rang sales again - insisted on some advice. They said 'it is probably your router, we can send you a free router.......you just need to sign up for................Talk Talk Plus!!!!!!!!!!! Arrrrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhhh!

Wednesday morning, connection back on.........but for how long?

I have read some other posts re TT on this forum and am actually scared of leaving TT having heard the trouble others have had getting their MAC codes to move on and being pressurised into contracts they don't want and billed for contracts they haven't agreed to.

It is incredibly frustrating. TT have just been fined for wrongly billing customers, but I think they should be investigated further for malpractice. This is no joke.

Do not be afraid.... I know that's often easier said than done.

I was a >5 year Tiscali customer. Then TT came along and my BB began suffering terrible unreliability... In the end it would go off for the whole evening from around 6.30pm.
They sent Qube engineers then an Openreach visit but no problems found at my end... Phew thankfully otherwise they would have charged as I had to accept this condition before TT would do anything.
The only solution TT offered was to reduce my speed from just less than 2Mb down to a bit over 1Mb for a reliable service...
Ohhh and by the way increasing/aligning my Broadband only bill from the Tiscali charge of £7.99 per month to TT £14.99.

I left Talk Talk in Sept 2010 and 1 week later was up and running with BT on a reliable speed, exactly as I had with Tiscali, of just under 2Mb.

Some may say "out of the frying pan into the fire" with my new choice of ISP however I now have an Infinity speed of 37Mb over wireless "n" and a router that stays on line for ever.... well power cuts permitting.

After a few months TT appeared on the scene again with this thread.- "Letter from Talk Talk "Cessation of Broadband services Nov 23" Yet I Left in Sept?"

After many battles and supplying all the evidence of me leaving and when (Don't just rely on your new ISP to tell TT your leaving date do it yourself and keep the evidence).
I eventually had a very helpful TT manager from their Ireland office phone me and she cancelled all charges they were seeking plus agreed to put it in writing..... and I actually received that email apologising for all the worry etc and promising that would be the end of it.
I have kept all this documentation.... but true to her word from that day onwards I have not heard a thing from TT.
It is such a breathe of fresh air dealing with my new ISP.
This is the INFINITY forum where there are good and bad stories... which you would expect with most people posting to get help.

Anyhow Go For It....... take the plunge and look around.
I believe there are some ISPs that have short term contracts of say 1 month... and if you don't like them you could always leave and go back to TT.

    Good Luck

Note that if you are on TT LLU equipment then you do NOT need a MAC to leave. :)
