Antibacterial handwash for delicate skin?

Options
Three family members have eczema and so far the only handwash they can use is Carex. Last time I tried using own brands they cause their skin to flare up but that was several years ago. Anyone got any suggestions? Should we be using an antibacterial at all?
Thanks

I love the second one down, Faith in Natures, but it is expensive. I also have problem skin. Ones with Tea Tree in are usually good as it's a natural anti bacterial. I know there is a lot of hype over if we should use anti bac so much as the bacteria that is bed gets immune and it strips the hands of the natral bacteria it needs. I have heard some add a little Tea Tree oil to regular cheap handwash/bubble bath etc to add the anti bac properties, maybe you could try adding some to one your family is not sensitive to and see how it goes, only need a few drops of the essential oil.

Why do you think you need antibacterial soap.... are you a surgeon?

A mild cleanser is all you need for handcleaning. The soaping action of a cleanser will release any grime/bacteria from the hands and will rinse away with the rinsing water.

These antibacterial soaps/handwashes are simply too harsh for everyday use. I use homemade soap to wash and then I prepare meats/food for my family and they have never got food poisoning.... plus I havent made my skin feel tight with all those harsh chemicals.

Yes you may feel like your hands are incredibly clean, but the first time you touch a towel, worktop whatever, they will be picking up bacteria again so its really not worth using such harsh products.

Please think about using a mild cleanser...preferably homemade soap as you decide what you are going to put in there. Especially for a childs delicate skin, or someone with sensitive skin.

I love Carex, it always leaves my hands so soft. So I always stock up when it's on special offer somewhere or use my Boots advantage card points.

That's always a thought if you have the time, homemade soaps can be great for those with sensitive skin as you choose what goes in them.

Try tea tree oil soap. This is a natural antibiotic and is kind to skin.

    Google tea tree oil soap

I agree, wouldnt bother with anti bacterial soap, i have eczema and housewife dermititis, and i simply use aqueous cream when washing my hands as i need the moisture, the more we use the anibacterial suff the stronger all these diieases such as mrsa will get.

  • I have really sensitive skin but love the faith in nature handwash.... I use lavender and geranium although i've also heard good things about their tea tree oil one.
You can buy from their site but https://www.goodnessdirect.co.uk also sell it and its much cheaper there.
