Cleaning before cleaning lady comes?

I'm sorry, but this makes no sense to me.

I'd clear away stuff like newspapers, shoes, laptops and things but cleaning before the cleaner arrives seems a complete waste of money.

Come to think of it, I do tell hubby off if he ever leaves skid marks in the toilet before the cleaner comes (or anytime in fact).

Get another cleaner, one who your wife wont think will gossip about her?

It is best to de-clutter before a cleaner.

Personally I would tidy things away back to their right place, and get rid of crumbs but other than that let the cleaner clean. Even if your wife wants to have the surfaces wiped - the cleaner will be able to give surfaces, grouting, windows etc a proper clean. Dust things and move furniture around to mop and hoover which will still save you and your wife some time.

Instead of doing the cleaning all at once just before the cleaner visits, there is a great list to help do a bit each day. Then she won't need a cleaner and can spend the extra money on something lovely for herself.:D
