Thanks. I usually shop at the Card Factory, as I find ASDA and Clintons etc overpriced. Although on my Mom's last birthday I got her a card from Funky Pigeon.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670

I never use Mum, Mam, Ma or anything like that. It's Mom for me.
Words I cannot stand are Pack up (packed lunch), stairwell (staircase, stairway), chillaxing (mixture of relaxing and chilling, not even a word).
Here in Stoke our sandwiches are 'pieces' and if we are cold we are 'nesh'. It's not can't it's 'costner' and everyone is duck.0 -

Some people get all the fun!
Where I live everyone talks like BBC newsreader. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
I am indeed from Birmingham
Could never understand why people use mum as I always thought mom was short for mother, so figured the 'mo' bit made sense.
Especially as I always thought of a mummy as, well, a mummy (of the Egyptian variety)
It used to annoy me at secondary school when I used to get marked down on SPAG for using the word 'mom'. :P'The More I know about people the Better I like my Dog'

Try this one then...'Ah do' - Hello
'Ay up Duck' - Hello there
'Ow at?' - How are you?
'At Owe rate/orate?' - Are you alright?
'Me owd' - My friend
'Mar mate' - My mate
Now try this conversation with your study partner
'Ah do, ow at, at owe rate?'
'Ar, arm orate me owd, at thay?'0 -
Letter recieved from Tesco today re "exploding dressing" - thier words not mine
£15 cash card as an apology - thank you Tesco - apparently it had fermented but cannot establish why.
Spent the £15 on paint for the ceiling in my kitchen and to replace all the cleaning stuff I used to clear up after the mishap :rotfl:Light travels faster than sound - that's why you can see someone who looks bright until they open their mouth.0 -

When I first moved up here and was called nesh cos I was cold I thought they were taking the pee. I also love the way I am called duck, duckie, shug, and chick. Although people look at me when I call them hon :rotfl:
I think the phrase that caught me out the most was I arn't, I was at work and a headmistress rang to speak to my boss, said she can call me back any time before 11 as I arn't teaching before then. I have caught the habit and my dad told me off for saying it :rotfl::rotfl:I'm 55 so was a bit shocked at being told off! After 8 years I no longer say I am making a cuppa, I say a brew and I also eat tea in the evening instead of dinner. I have dinner on my lunch break(am a bit confused as to where lunch went, think I maybe missing a meal)
Sorry to have hijacked your thread BonandDom - glad you got a result for the exploding dressing!whoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine

I used to live near to Stoke when I was younger and if we were going shopping out neighbour (a proper Stokie) would always ask "you off up 'Anley, duck?"
I do love a Staffordshire Oatcake when I can get hold of one too!
Glad to hear the case of the exploding dressing has been resolved - careful when you stir that paint can!"Does it spark joy?" - Marie Kondo
