What to do when your iPhone contract ends?

Options
I have a 3 gs iPhone and the contract is about to expire. I don't want to replace the hand set but all I am being offered is silly money extensions. Is there an alternative that offers a reasonable price service for an iPhone?

You iP (if unlocked) will work with any PAYG sim or on any sim-only contract. You can easily port the number to another provider.

    Post you airtime requirements.

Tesco Mobile do iphone SIM only 1 month contracts - starting at £15 pm for 250 mins, 5000 texts and 500mb data (plus unlimited wi-fi on BT Openzone).
They do more expensive packages for more minutes (texts and data stay the same although you can increase data to 1G for an extra £2.50 a month)

Bear in mind contracts don't end, you just pass any minimum term, they revert to a 30 day notice rolling contract after that.

If your happy with the phone AND the monthly amount - Why not cancel the contract. Get a new iphone4 on the existing tarrif then simply sell the iphone to pay for the tarrif using your existing 3gs.

Get your iPhone unlocked and look to see if you can get a better deal with a Sim Only Contract and if so (which I bet there will be) as your current provider to match it, if they won't move.

But consider; 1) if you move will the coverage be as good, 2) are you committing to a long contract that you might want to get out of a few months down the road, 3) would PAYG be cheaper still

I have an iPhone 3GS on O2 and when my contract was up I move to a 12 month Sim Only deal with T-Mobile for £7.50 a month, cost me £15 for O2 to unlock it.

So look for a sim only 30 day rolling contract or a 12 month sim only deals.

OP - consider giffgaff. It runs off of the o2 network, so if your phone is locked to o2 it will still work. If locked to another network, asl the network provider to unlock the phone.

Giffgaff gives you 250 mins, unlimited text and data for £10pm. There are other packages if you need more minutes.

Am I correct in saying that the Iphone 4 will need a micro SIM?
My mums contract is ending soon and like OP she is being offered stupid retention deals.
T mobile is looking the best at the moment, itshere
Would giffgaff provide a micro SIM for the Iphone 4? Had a look on their site but not seen any thing yet. :)

Just answered my own question lol http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Learn-giffgaff-Top-Tips/iPhone-4-FAQ/td-p/26461

Mate, that thread is not that useful. Two easy ways to get a giffgaff microsim:

    1) Buy one off ebay - loads of sellers have them. One sells them and offers £3 cashback back (because he will make a fiver from giffgaff for getting you on the network), plus you'll get £5 because you have gone through an existing member.

    2) Go on the community and post a thread asking if someone will send you a giffgaff microsim; you'll have loads of takers because, as I mentioned above, the person sending it out will get a fiver and so will you.
