I am very, very new to Ebay. Have bought a few things and am going to start some selling so would some kind soul tell me what Shill bidding is?SallyD0

There is an easy answer to this. Snipe the auction, do not bid early thus allowing a shill push the price up.0

Be very careful about reporting shill bidders, I got reported and my ebay account suspended for 7 days (and conviently I had 2 auctions running which I lost out on) and I wasn't even aware what shill bidding was or why, how, who had reported me. I was not a happy bunny!!!
Also I agree with jayok, you usually end up getting a better price when waiting.0 -
Hi Heavenly - I did not bid more than I was willing to pay, I'm just a bit unhappy that I am having to pay more due to what seems to be a case of shill bidding! If a genuine bidder had bumped up the price then I wouldn't mind so much but I am being conned into paying more than I should IYSWIM!!!!
Jayok - I did snipe but did not see the shill bidder until after the auction as I was not at home to see the later bids being put in. Had I seen 2hotkeys bid before the snipe then I would have cancelled the snipe.
Question is, I have reported so where do I go from here? I don't really want to pay especially since ebay might ban them thus meaning that they might not send me the goods. How long do I leave it? The seller has not chased the payment *yet*.0 -
Technically, shilling or not, as long as they seller remains unsuspended, your contract with the seller stands.
What I mean by that is that you can hold off paying... but you'll get a strike and possibly a neg if ebay take no action against the seller. My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0
