Shill bidding? I'm not happy :-(

Options
Morning all,

Can someone please take a look at the following auction for me? I won the item but I think I have been the victim of shill bidding. The item number is 170066700683 and I think the shill bidder is 2hotkeys especially since they seemed to win the eact same item on 17th December.

I have reported to ebay who said they were investigating but that was 3 days ago. I thought they banned members when they were shill bidding? Thing is, I really don't want to pay the over inflated price for this item. Fair enough if it had been a genuine bidder but I feel ripped off! Can I have suggestions please as to what to do? In my eyes I should only be paying £4.30 plus p&p (20p increment over the last genuine bidder) is that right?

Thanks in advance,
F x

  • only thing i could find on the 17th was a black purse that was similar

You need to look at the other items that 2hotkeys has bid on (using the advanced search) - item 170062204767 is the one that they won on 17th December and it is IDENTICAL to the one I won. Hmmmmm.
  • ah i see, it seems weird they would shill bid upto £8 first time and then let it go for £7 when you bought it :S , unless they were a non paying bidder (doubtful)

im not sure there is anything you can do to not pay for it without repercussions

they havent bid on any other of the sellers items, so I doubt it.

Possibly they wanted another of the same purse
  • I dont think it is a case of shill bidding, this seller has feedback from another buyer on 28th November which was positive for the same blue purse agin.

I think she just may have a few, and uses the same piccie each time.

Perhaps the bidder is question wants two?
  • Also she has sold two more one for £10.53, and the other for £2.50.

Feedback have been left by customers on 26th and 30th December, the customers were both pleased.

It's a shame that I didn't post this question a couple of days ago when I first became suspicious. There were quite a few other auctions that 2hotkeys had bid on from this and the other seller 9535elena (who incidentally has also bid on my sellers auctions in the past, and they both live in Feltham, hmmmm). That is what arroused my suspicions, why would buyer with 0 feedback only bid on two peoples auctions and never get any feedback? It seems that the majority of the bid history cannot be seen today as it is over 30 days ago :-( Oh well, I just hope that Ebay take the appropriate action otherwise I will have to pay over the odds. Sorry you guys can't see what I saw.

I agree, I think it's dodgy, if 2hotkeys bid and won on 18th Dec she would have received it by now and left feedback - eager to move up from (0).

If she is bidding on a 2nd one and genuinely like the 1st one she would have left feedback.

By not leaving feedback there will be no trail/evidence of shill bidding in 30 days time.
