I have grown chillies outside this year (also in W Yorks). They are only just flowering now though and haven't actually produced chillies. They do need a lot of direct sunlight which the NW is not renowned for! But I am hoping to at least get a few, if we get a little late-summer sun.0

This is pretty much where my chillis are.I am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.

Good - potatoes (despite being seriously neglected), rhubarb, runner beans, swede looks huge already, cucumbers, plums, berries, crab apples, quince and lots more.
Bad - french beans (only the climbers were good, dwarf rubbish), tomatoes (my sporadic watering), gourds & courgettes, garlic - seem to be singles like AngelsMadv above.
Birds stripped - cherries (again), all my grapes (furious, great crop), all my gooseberries (furious again!).
Pretty good year for me all told. Runner beans really benefitted from a different location and still picking them now. Jostaberries good but had to watch out for the birds again. Brussels sprouts look the best I've had them yet, tall and thriving. Shame the purple sprouting is only a few inches high and struggling for survival. One pumpkin only which is quite small but perfectly formed and turning orange, will be just about big enough for carving (foot or so wide). So pleased with swede, first year growing and looking to be my best crop!Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

I didn't do much, but...
Potatoes, Runner beans, Peas, Beetroot, Tomatoes = Good.
Chilli peppers = Good, until I went on holiday and my girlfriend failed to water them properly.
Parsnips = Disaster.
My runner beans are epic... I planted them where I'd left bags of horse manure for a few months and all the nutrients would have seeped out in to the soil. I may put a bag of horse manure over where I intend to plant them next year!0 -
Squashes and parsnips - total bolleaux - shame as I love a good soup from these two. Onions have been a bit slack.
Courgettes - pants
Good = garlic, spuds, runner and french beans, chillies.
Average = sweetcorn, tomatoes.0
