How much deposit did you have (%?)

Hi there
I am currently saving for a deposit for a house and have seen there are a range of offers out there. I know most common is around 10% but have seen some ranging from 5-40%+
Just wondering - how much / what percentage did you have?

We put down 20%, we could have just about made 25% but it would have been a stretch and the difference in rates wasn't worth it for us.
We're lucky in that we live in a fairly cheap part of the country so 20% was 'only' 20k0 -
About to purchase a £200,000 flat.
I have a deposit of £40,000 (20%) plus £15,000 spending money.
25% would have been £50,000 which wouldn't have left me enough for furniture, white goods etc.0 -
We had a 13% deposit, although this was back in '07 when mortgages were easier to obtain0

We've got 25% (hoping to by for up to 250,000)Sealed Pot Challenge (1031) 2012 = 148.17
Virtual Sealed Pot Challenge - 2012 191.39
Emergency Fund: £9798.81/£12,280
2013 Goal: Overpay mortgage: £1745/£6000 (MFW 2013 No 49)0 -
We managed to go in at 40% but I would have felt comfortable with 25% as well and sometimes wish we'd retained a bit more for repairs and decorations as it's been a struggle since buying. We saved diligently for 7 years and so never dared consider the money as being available for anything other than "house deposit" !0

Haha I know - it's good to hear from someone in a similair region I hope to get.
We will hopefully be buying a new property from 98-108k and looking to get our deposit saved.Saving for our next step up the property ladder0 -

Good luck with the saving. once we started looking we were quite surprised with what you can get for that money. We've ended up with a 3 bed semi, with a garden in Prestwich.
Its a new build and on the small side but much more than we thought we'd get.0 -
25% down this time, which we 'saved' by selling our previous house in 2005. We put down 5% on that house in 2002. This house cost £128,000, previous house cost £105,000 and sold for £149,000.0

Wow thats good. Yeh we are kind of hoping for a new build and at the moment most 2 bed new builds in the area we want are going from 98k-108k so trying to get a deposit within that. Have noticed Clydesdale doing 5% for first time buyers atm so could hopefully fall back on that - presume this would require some major credit rating or something though? (Neither of us have negative credit although)
