6.1.07 What small DFW/MSE thing have you/will you do today?

  • well, I see quite an MSE day today!
My DS gets DLA so free bus travel for him and a companion - I am taking the kids to my mum's on the bus so this will be free!
Also will be there for dinner - again free for me!
Will take her some shortbread - from my Xmas left over bag - again free (was a gift).
I do need some groceries though - juice, bread and stuff for sandwiches for work on Monday so will have to go to supermarket later - this is budgeted though!

    have a great day all!

    Hi there

    Plans for the day:
    - buy a diary with the day divided into quarter-hour sections, to help me manage my time when working freelance (and I hope cure me of timewasting habits like visiting this site constantly throughout the day!)
    - springclean the dining room and create a space to photograph biggish things for ebay
    - go round the house with a borrowed energy monitor, testing how much electricity the various appliances use. We are very conscientious about turning things off but still have bills of £55/month, so there's clearly a leak somewhere.
    - do a couple of hours freelance work
    Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.62

Seaxwyn: You might like David Seah's Printable CEO free downloads. I use the Emergent Task Timer at the office because I have to log how much time I spend on each worktype, and I sometimes do as many as 6 or 7 worktypes in one day.

Been into town and bought toiletry gift sets from New Look reduced to 1.50 each - the shower gel and soap in them alone would come to more than that and I now have enough shampoo, shower gel, soap etc to last until probably the end of February.
The card shop was having an everything half price day (even birthday cards) so I bought all of the cards for birthdays for the next 6 months and 2 packs of Christmas cards for a grand total of 2.50!

I gave my parking ticket (which still had an hour left) to a lady struggling with a baby and pram in the rain so my good deed for the day is done!

Bought a nice cardie and scarf (been looking at them for a while) now reduced to 10 pounds for the two.

Will stay in for the rest of the day and not spend anymore!!!
    January grocery spending - £82.73/ £120

    No spend day.

I was given a huge box of blank hand made cards for christmas and I'm going to pick one out for my Grandad's 80th.
  • Touched up my roots with Root Touch Up kit - only used half so can use again. This saves a trip to the hairdressers. Instead of going next week I will postpone to Feb when it is our wedding anniversary so I will have my hair done just before we go for a meal (budgeted of course). Oh and just remembered that I bought the hair dye with Advantage points so completely free and very MSE :D

Checked the cupboards, fridge and freezer and did a meal plan for next week. So was able to buy a joint of beef for Sunday when the family are coming over - only needed fruit, veg, bread and eggs besides the meat as the rest of the week's meals will come out of what we already have and the left over beef will do for packed lunches for half the week. Really pleased to be able to get this out of our pared down shopping budget.

Great thread - really inspiring to be able to report progress

I'm having a no spend, but still fun day - a friend is taking me out for lunch :)

I had to spend some money last night booking tickets to go to a trade event in London - but I got reduced rate travellodge rooms and booked the coach through quidco :) Its an important show, and hopefully will help us make some more contacts, and more money, over the next few months.
