Know what you mean, at then end of the day, the kit might just be what saves your life... so how much is that worth.

Yea, one man's gold is another man's junk an all that. That's why I'm thinking find a friendly local dealer or two to get the feel of a couple different bikes

Yeah but if you buy a sports bike people will call it a 'crotch rocket' or some such! Someone somewhere will always have an alternative view so as long as you accept that then get what you feel best on!

It was only because you'd said cool i thought i'd mention it but i was just being daft. That is of course as long as you don't get a tassled jacket etc, that is just sad heh heh!

Not a fan of cruisers on uk roads personally. they are best for what they were made to do, cross US highways in a straight line. You'll find you very quickly reach the limits of a 125 cruiser i think!

Like insurance, good kit is expensive unless you actually need it to save your skin then it looks like a bargain!

Good kit doesn't have to be expensive. I picked up most of mine 2nd hand on eBay and it's all good quality and had barely been used. The helmet does have to be new of course, but even so, price isn't much of a guide to quality.
    Saving for deposit: Finished! :j
    House buying: Finished!
Next task: Lots and lots of DIY

Tis true, quality doesn't always mean expensive...

Good kit - if buying new, tends to be expensive.

Even used it'll be more than the knock off stuff. Yess you can get a £800 Rukka jacket on ebay for £500 that has been used but Personally I have stuff from Hein Gerike, it is good and fairly inexpensive, it has all the right armour in it and the double stiching etc you need.

All I am saying is don't buy Spazzo Wonder Trousers for £30 because they'll be rubbish but you knew that was my point anyway did you not? ;)

In other news get-geared is fairly good for stuff too. They have the heated gloves in and they are fabby.

  • I've heard good stuff about Hein Gerike so thinking of taking a trip to their shop after next week to see whats to be seen! Will have a look at get-geared too!
But yes, I agree, If i was to see trousers or jackets or just about anything for 30 quid I wouldn't go near it with your's if you know what I mean ;)

Big thumbs up for hein Gerike, and they have a sale on at the moment (at least in Cheltenham). Went to buy a helmet not long ago but the one I wanted and had nearly ordered on the web didn't fit. Tried on loads of others until we found one I liked and fitted perfectly, salesman was brilliant, made me a cup of tea and gave me the paper and advised me to wear the helmet for a while in the shop to make sure its ok. Looked on the web on my phone while sat there and found someone selling the same helmet for £10 less so he knocked it off the price.
Very happy customer and he sold me the right helmet for me at just over half my original budget, so I've also got some new gloves and Kevlar jeans with the rest.
