UK TV Licence? Loophole?

And did we sign up to the declaration using a proxy or did we do it without? Ah well, that's allowed Crapita aka TVLicensing to identify your address - and importantly your ISP.[/conspiracy theory mode]
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -
of course if you are in an area where analogue tv has been turned off you could use this for gaming and show the man in the pointed hat it when he came a knocking:D
tell him yes
i got a tv
then watch his face as it non works:rotfl::rotfl:0 -
As long as you don't watch or record television programmes as they're being broadcast on any device no TV Licence is required.
Just let them know by completing the online declaration form.
You do not have to "declare" that you do not need a TV Licence.
You are required to buy a licence to view or record live TV - there is NO requirement to tell anyone if you do not require a licence.
If you don't have a firearm or don't drive, you don't have to tell the Police or DVLA of this fact.
Just as there is NO requirement for you to admit anyone to your house - tell them to "go away" - as forcefully as you wish
This is just another piece of pseudo-legalise dreamt up by the BBC/TVLA/Capita to get everyone in the land into their data base !0 -
Correct. Together with an IP address that, at the very least, enables them to tie an address to a particular ISP. Given their abilities elsewhere and their interest in sticking their noses into other people's business at every opportunity I will be telling Crapita absolutely zero.moonrakerz wrote: »You do not have to "declare" that you do not need a TV Licence.

Bear in mind that in the event of the tv detection people come around you have to prove that you are not watching live television broadcasts.
Er, no, the burden of proof is on them to prove that you are watching without a licence, surely?
Innocent until proven guilty, not presumed quilty and have to prove innocence.....0 -
It's not a loophole.
If you don't have a TV you don't need a licence.
It is as simple as that.0 -
Get ready for a couple of years of letters from them, most telling you that you should not be watching TV without a license, and their option to declare you haven't got a TV isn't any good if you do still have a TV. When I told them I had a TV they said what do you use it for? Which ignores other uses for a TV such as watching video or DVD0

How much do they spend on these monthly mailings to me? I don't really mind they are quite amusing. But the waste. I told the enforcement officer years ago I did not ever intend to buy a licence and did not want or need one. He said "everyone says that but you do need one"...Yeah right...Good bye. So it's monthly mailings and the twice a year knock at the door. Is that harrasment?:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Sorry if I'm wrong. I just went on the letters that they pestered me with during my time as a student. They seemed to imply I would have to do the proving!0 -

they (the BBC/capita) if they lead you to believe that are 100% wrong, googler is correct, that alone should be proof enough to anyone that they will [STRIKE]lie[/STRIKE] bend the truth enough that you cannot trust a single word they say.0
