o2 Broadband and moving house

Called to cancel my o2 broadband the other day and the retention deal offered was that if I take an o2 sim card and top it up with £10 every 3 months they would do the broadband free for 9 months. This is on the Premium package (one of the old style packages they don't offer any more).

It sounds like a good offer but it means being tied in for another 12 months. I'm thinking of moving in about 6 months and might want a completely different broadband supplier. Does moving mean an automatic get out of the contract? Or is it like with mobile phone contracts where I'd have to pay off the rest of the contract?

No,moving house is no excuse for getting out of any contract for services like BBand, phone or TV in the eye's of the providers. You'd have to arrange to take the services with you or pay the remainder of the contract off.

I found this out to the cost of £150 when leaving my last property as an avctive subscriber to Be Unlimited (same broadband-ish as o2).

Be aware they will probably say "oh don't worry if you re-activate in your new place we'll credit the charge to your account" which is well and good, but in my case the place I'm moving doesn't have provisions for Be Broadband so I've just had to shoulder the cost !

I moved during my one year contract with O2 and there was no charge, they allow one move per year. I was moving to anoher O2 enabled exchange though, which made it easy.
