Hi

My retired parents have asked my to look at their Gas/elec bill and im v suprised to see that they are on British Gas Standard tarrif!!

Looking at the comparisons the options are

N Power Sign online 23 (saving 357.50)
Eon online 9 (saving 334.00)

or fixed

Scottish power (saving 152.45)

I can see that Eon have increased their prices but have N power? I don't want to get them to do the N power tarrif if they are going to put up their prices (noone seems to mention N Power which makes me wonder if they are yet to increase etc)

Or is the Fixed saving worth it?

Any advice appreciated - i would feel bad if i got it wrong, if i did it for myself thats not too bad but when looking for someone else I want to make sure im doing it right

Thanks

ok thanks so maybe worth going for the EON deal then or would you advise to wait? If i wait will the others increase again (soon) or is that it for them?

EON online 9 is a variable tariff that has not yet been increased. EON says it is not being increased when its other variable tariffs go up, but it could easily be increased to only 2% below the standard tariff at some not too distant point.

This is the new sneaky marketing tool the Big 6 seem to be adopting. All in the T&Cs, obviously, but I'm sure there will be many who don't know anything about this. Or in Eon's case the no discount on final bill T&C.

If staying on variable, wait unti the NPower anouncement.
If fixing, move now (though just too late for the cheapest EDF fix, not sure what they are offering instead).
Edit: EDF Fix for 2012 is now available, not done the comparison with the old Fixed Saver v2 yet.
The 2014 fix is still available though.

    Npower have announced now:

Energy company Npower is to raise gas prices by 15.7% and electricity prices by 7.2% from 1 October, it has announced.

Ok ive done a new comparison today after the N power rise and the top supplier is still N Power with the same saving?
At the top of Uwitch it says that the prices reflect the new price rises, will this be correct?
  • That's because npower haven't increased SOL23. yet.
