Flights to Jakarta in Dec - price increasing

My family and I (2 adults + 1 child + 1 infant) are planning to fly to Jakarta (CGK) in the first week of Dec (5th - 9th), and returning to London on the first week of Jan '12 (2nd - 6th).

We found a really good deal on Emirates for about £1600. However I didn't book because my manager hasn't given the green light for such a long absence from work (although I have enough annual leave days). The price has now gone up to £1800 :(

Assuming I will get confirmation from my manager soon, what's the best tactic here? Should I buy asap or wait for any potential sale at the end of August or later?

Many thanks for your help!

It's a difficult one as you're right on the brink of the Xmas/New Year price rises. I too am booked with Emirates to the Far East and I leave on Thursday 8th December and return Tuesday 3rd January. Your departure dates are good as the first of the Xmas price hikes kicks in on the 10th December I think. You'll need to watch when returning as the price jumps up on Friday 6th as it's the first weekend after the New Year. If you've been looking on their website you'll see this on the week's layout matrix.

Personally I think £1,800 is a good price and would grab it but it is a bit of a gamble.

Thanks for the reply. I found out that Emirates website prices actually fluctuated quite a lot in the past few days. Finally found a £1700 deal for the four of us and bit the bullet :)
