Where to buy XP from?

The words participating and qualifying seem a bit restricting..And now microsoft are listing qualifying manufacturers that the upgrade is available from.

That and the fact Microsoft changed the OEM software license to this

It looks like unless the OEM software is pre-installed by one of thier approved system builder then you wont get the upgrade. Can anybody throw more light on this???

just a note to remind you - Vista looks like it will need at least more than 1 gig of RAM to cope with all the features.......poss 2 gig

Nope.. had the RC2 running on a Athlon 2600 XP with 512MB ram And geforce 6600GT with all features running fine... Only time I could see for needing more ram would be games but when the new range of 1GB cards come out as well as full DX10 support in games and cards then you wont even need that.

Do MS do deals for XP OS if you know someone in the NHS or doesnt it apply to the OS but only things like Office

You'll have to re-purchase all your applications again... That'll cost more than a copy of Vista won't it? I know it would for me! Plus you would loose the use of the right mouse button... With all the development Apple put into the iPhone you think they would add a second mouse button :rolleyes:

Not as far as I'm aware: for all the expensive applications I'm pretty sure the dongles are dual Mac/PC and the software has both versions on the CD.

The lack of mouse buttons is probably a more serious problem .
