Which debt/finance/life books to inspire me?

Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on 'inspirational' / 'motivational' books on the subject of either getting rid of debt, saving money, making money, getting on top of finances etc.
I've OBVIOUSLY got both of Martin's books and they are fabulous and am taking all advice from him. Having discovered MSe I am also getting serious advice, knowledge anf motivation from logging on to the different forums here every day, but just wondered if anyone could recommend any further reading to give me a bit more inspiration (which will obviously try to buy secondhand, through Quidco or via a discount code)
Heard of the Tightwad gazette, but also looking for info about organising finances, saving money, getting ahead of game and looking to good money future, and motivation as well as tightwad style living...(phew!). any ideas gratefully received!!......
(PS am not actually in major debt but spend way more than should and previous to MSe discovery did nothing to understand or develop financial situation)

Dave Ramsey Total money make over, sign up to pigsback use the audible trial to down download the the audio book. Some of what he talks about is american like 401k's instead of pensions and rath accounts instead of isa's but but the premise is good. Also he has a podcast of his american call in show every weekday which is free, just hearing people ring up and shout I'm debt free is such a motivation. I can't wait for the day I can ring in to his show. :jOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 234 Proud to be dealing with my debts I love the Dave Ramsey podcasts. Debt Free Date (including house) Aug 2012 Live on £4000 a year the short version £918 for 29/09/08 - 01/01/09 spent £0 NSD's In October Target 10 Actual 0 Quit smoking 25/09/08 saved £5 so far0

Hi, this was gonna be my question aswell. I like Dave Ramsay, he was bankrupt then decided to learn how money works and read everything and anything to do with finance.... He's now a millionanire!!!
Anthony Robbins also lectures on how to master wealth etc.. Mmm let me think.....
Oh I would just go to the financial section in a good book shop and have a good old rummage then come home and try and buy off amazon at a fraction of the price.
When i read those kinda books what jumps out at me is that it's not the amount that you earn but it's all to do with investment and compound interest etc..
let us know how you get on...

I must admit i was very UN MSE with my purchases I paid £6.00 for money diet and from that I learnt and saved alot, I then paid full price for Which? because i saw it as £11.99 to save my self choosing lemon products was good value.
Rich dad poor dad again full price £6.99 as i couldnt find it anywhere cheaper and dont like waiting for reading material. If it wasnt for money diet I wouldnt have bought the others just the same if it wasnt for Money diet I wouldnt have saved the money i have on bills etc I think it took me 2 hours from getting money diet to saving the cost of it on my mobile phone bill in 1 month anyway everythign after that was a bonus. If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

Have to agree with that everything is put in simple terms of you only get that £1 to spend or use once its how you use it that makes the differance, Rich dad poor dad is good at getting you to see how "Other people" use there money and what makes the differance between them and rich(er) people. Eg The rich make money so they can buy nice things, the poor buy nice things so they can appear rich and thus have no money. If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

Hello P.A, Good topic about books about the world of finance etc,i`ve read books by Alvin Hall such as "your money or your life".
Another good one is "How to Get Out of Debt And Stay out and live prosperously" by Jerrold Mundis its an American author but gave me inspiration to investigate my own situation and take action to dig myself out of the hole i found myself in
Its probably a little dated now but some useful advice on how to become debt free a step at a time.

Make sure you check your local library first - most now allow online catalogue searches. Why buy when you can borrow?0

Hi All,
I have started buying and selling books on Amazon marketplace where you can pick up new and used books for less than retail price -also you can request books in to your local library - which for all DFW should be the first port of call!
Four books I highly recommend are:
Rich Dad Poor Dad Robert Kyosaki-admittedly the first time I read it didnt get that much out of it! but the 2nd & 3rd time got loads it does present different ways of thinking so may take a while to sink in!
The Laws of Money - Suze Orman fantastic book with pratical work book at the book and if you take them on board fundemental principles that you can apply pracitcally to your financial affairs - quite a frank book - explores relationships and beliefs about money. An American book that has been anglasized (talks about pensions and Isa's and more) so thats good!
The Spendless Revolution - Rebecca Ash newish book (I think) I found it hard to put down brilliant tips about making a difference to your finances including checking out this website! - very up to date some radical ideas for cutting costs incl. squatting (which maybe a step too far for some!) aswell as giving advice and tips also discusses the wider implications of our consumption obessed society and the damaging impact the compulsion to spend more has on peoples lives and suggest / focuses on ideas and approaches to be happier but not in a wishy washy way. Excellent book - covers allsorts of different areas/aspects of life.
The Success Principles - Jack Canfield - the co author of chicken soup for the soul (never really got into those books) but this chunky mama of a book is BRILLIANT! a general sort your life out book! definitely worth reading or buying on audio ( I have both!) - also check out his website https://www.successprinciples.com (I think)
Yes I am a self confessed self development book section stalker!!!!
I hope this helps!:j Where there is a will there is a way - there is a way and I will find it :j0 -
Ooh, so many books, so little time!! Thank you
