C Fresh Fish & Chips is lovely. Always a big queue for the takeaway. Its on Princess Street. If you turn up the side of the Foxhall pub on the front, its just there in front of you.

    We went in there yesterday.
There was no one in and no queue outside!

They had some men outside, fixing the sign so maybe people thought it was shut.

It was cheap and ok. Not as good as Magpies n Whitby though.

Blackpool is a dump. They need to finish off the sea wall and make it look nice.

And get rid of the gypsys who walk the streets approaching you.

It puts me off going back!
  • Oh how strange, whenever we go during the illuminations there's always a huge queue for the takeaway. In saying that, we have often got straight in in the middle of the day.

They're working hard on the front, but I think its still got a way to go yet, although i'm sure initially it was supposed to be completed by now. Its a lot better than it was a couple of years ago though.

Woodheads (Station Road, opposite South Pier) is pretty good.

I dined at Woodheads, Simpson Street, last September & I will most likely be returning next month. I had the 'meal deal' thing ie. fish, chips & peas, slice of bread, mug of tea for around £5.25, It was very good.

If you just want a chippy then friends recommended New Norbreck Chippy on Norbreck Road, down the side of the Norbreck Castle Hotel.
  • I was in Woodheads, Simpson Street, Blackpool, again yesterday. Alterations have taken place since last year. As you walk in through the right hand door there are two tills on the right, then brand new frying ranges run right the way to the back wall. Now, you have to find a table, choose from the menu & then order & pay at the counter. The meal deal I had was fish, chips, mushy peas & a slice of bread & butter @ £5.25. A mug of tea is £0.80. The fish was large with nice batter & the chips were lovely. I would still recommend Woodheads to anyone visiting Blackpool.

While this thread got bumped up Crossgates chippy Scarborough got recognised as one of the top 5 in NE

    http://www.scarborougheveningnews.co.uk/news/business/chippy_named_in_top_five_in_region_1_3764682

A SCARBOROUGH fish and chip shop has been named among the top five of the north east.
Crossgates, along with Whiteheads Fish and Chips in Hornsea, only just missed out on a place in the region’s top three.

The staff in there are awful, foods ok.

I like the chippy near my house but it's away from the tourist areas

also taylors gets my vote too

My parents think that Yorkshire Fisheries is amazing, they go every time they're in blackpool (about 4 times a year)
  • I visited Blackpool at the end of August and we went to Yorkshire Fisheries. Best fish and chips I've ever had. I personally found the staff exceptionally polite and friendly :)
Thanks to everyone who posts comps, I love winning prizes big and small

    Hi

The Middle Chippy on Redbank Rd Bispham is very good

    Jen
  • I have always found Pablo's opposite South Pier to be very good but it is sometimes best to go to where the natives suggest as it is usually better quality and value.
