Stevie,
The notice is the only the first phase of a lengthy process and will presumably be dropped should he be found innocent, and is thus a statement of intent conditional on proven guilt.0 -
Here is one, interviewed by the Beeb, bad mistake, this really is a case of the news creating the news.Darren Fowles, 26, of Hodge Road, Worsley, Salford, was accused of a racially-motivated public order offence in connection with comments he allegedly made to a BBC journalist in Salford during a television interview.
Fowles entered no plea to the charge. He was remanded in custody to appear at crown court next week.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

That does not mean we do not serve justice.
If they do, they do, we can't stop that. But we shouldn't as a country simply allow these people to hold us at ransom, while collectively paying in to a pot which many take from to survive.0 -
My comment was more related to why? what about a stolen diamond Rolex would it be OK to buy one of those on Ebay
I don't even know what ebay has got to do with anything.
The difference is knowing whether you are handling stolen goods or not.
She knew she was.
If some punter on ebay ligitimately buys a ring, or whatever other item, completely unaware of where it has come from (which everyone on ebay does every day, even before the rioting).....then that it absolutely nothing like knowingly taking posession of stolen goods.
If some punter KNOWINGLY buys, or takes a stolen good on ebay, then that is pretty much the same scenario as the girl in question.
I cannot believe I am having to explain this to you. You seem like an intellectual bloke under other circumstances, for whom I do have respect. But with this lot, you are just undermining yourself & your intellect completely.0 -
it seems that any eviction process will take at least 6 months and will probably require a court judgement;
the council doesn't have a duty to rehouse as it will be deemed that the mother made herself intensionally homeless ; if evicted they will need to find private sector housing although presumably they will be eligible for HB etc0 -

They should do it to all criminals.
The middle classes have never been that bothered what the underclass do to each other on their own estates. It's only when they break out that the panic sets in.
Now they're embarking on an orgy of fear-driven retribution. It'll be brutal and indiscriminate. But it won't make them any safer.
It's starting with people being remanded in custody when they're unlikely to get prison sentences, so the authorities get their pound of flesh first.
As for this kid, he'll self-destruct before he's 25. Prime candidate for suicide. Failing that, drugs."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0 -
Wandsworth council will re-house the mother and the daughter as they have a legal obligation to. So her human rights are sorted as she is been given housing. What the mother has lost is the right to a secure tenancy for life. The council has no legal obligation to re-house the son as he is 18. [/COLOR]BTW Wandsworth council are the only ones I know who are hardline on council tenants causing problems for their neighbours even if they haven't been convicted.
Well - I guess the next thing to sort out (PDQ) is removing the legal obligation to re-house anyone who doesnt deserve it - and restrict it to only those that DO deserve it.
I've argued for a long time that its wrong for antisocial types to be able to remain in Council housing - when perfectly normal decent people are having to wait for ages or never being allowed on the list in the first place. When theres a shortage of resources (ANY resources) then its normal/decent people first and criminals WAY down the list.0 -
Put her kids in care and thow her out to live rough on the streets.0

What do you reckon they should do to that left handed para with a nice taste in musical instruments?'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is.
