Good Areas to Live in the North West

Altrincham and Sale in South Manchester are nice, and on the Metrolink - takes about 20 mins to get into the city centre on this. £120K will get you a 2-bed terrace in the less nice, but still reasonably decent, areas. Something like this: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-19462725.html0

try Shaw or Royton.0

I really want to live in Whitefield....but there doesnt seem to be anything decent for around £100-120k......
What other areas are up and coming for FTB's?
Recommendations Please
Cheers
Why not just a little further away from Whitefield in Prestwich? That budget will get you something nice (2 or 3 bed semi/ terrace), and it's still close to the park & (as I understand it) nice schools.
Although lovely areas I don't think you'll get anything in Chorlton for that budget, and not more than a 1 bed flat in Didsbury.0 -
Interesting site that might be of some use

Needs some updating, but price is good, dunno what the area is like.0 -
What is it you're after, other than 2 bed house in the north west? Good road links, public transport links - where to? Where do you/will you work? Do you need schools? A local night life? Shops? Its all somewhat vague at the moment.0

try Shaw or Royton.
Ahh the memories!!! Still wish I was living in Shaw, Oldham except for the lack of the train station but trams will be there soon.
Nice place to live, friendly people, lovely little shopping centre, good schools, excellent range of housing stock.
As others have said it all depends on why you want to live in Whitefield.De cluttering Konvert.Getting there

He said a good area. Newton Heath isn't.0 -
For that sort of price you could get a one bedroom flat in Chorlton, a two bedroom flat in West Didsbury or a decent sized 3 bed house in Hulme or Moss Side. I'm a big fan of the latter two areas, but some people may be put off by reputation (both areas have improved massively over the last ten years and would expect them to carry on improving significantly in the future too).0
