If you want to look a bit further from manchester, there are some nice areas in cheshire; altrincham, lymm, winwick, chester and walton come to mind.
Sale, Didsbury and Chrolton are nice to within manchester; depends where you are placed etc etc

You aren't going to get much for that amount, TBH.

Monton is a nice part of West Manchester/Salford but you haven't got enough to buy there. My mother in law is selling her 3 bed terrace in Eccles for around what you're looking to pay, but the area is more steady than up and coming.

What about the new tram routes, eg out towards Newton Heath? There are plenty of regeneration projects going on, but this might mean it takes longer for you to see any growth in the value.

  • have you thought about Rossendale ie Ramsbottom, Edenfield, Rawtenstall ? It depends what you want for your money and how far you need to be from work etc. Just thinking that the East Lancashire area has good transport links. I live in Bury but as I know it, I know which areas are better than others. I would have thought you could get something reasonable in Whitefield with that budget, but then what is reasonable ?? Probably need a bit more info to help properly.

you'll be able to get something pretty decent for that amount unless you're looking at Ringley Road West ..

Or you could head into Radcliffe and buy two terraced houses, but you shouldn't have problems around Whitefield in your budget... Although the big question has to be, why do you 'really want to live in Whitefield'???

Edit: seen your budget. What size house are you looking for? If a two-bed terraced or flat, my recommendations will be different from if you're looking for a 3-bed semi or larger (ie you can get a nicer area if you're looking for less house).
