South East Water wants more money

in Water bills
I am after some advice or help! I recentley received a letter from South East Water stating that after an internal audit of their records they have discovered that at my previous address i owed them for water used from Sept 07-Dec 08 when I moved from the property in Sept 07 and paid what i thought a final bill. After ringing them they stated that I didnt inform them of my move so i am liable for the water in this period. My previous address was bought by a guy who bought to let and had trouble with his tenants so it seems that unless I can prove by a letter from South East Water in have to pay £258. I contacted them via phone as I did with all the utilities but this is not recorded anywhere!!!!! I dont want to pay for water I certainly didnt use as no one would, so any help will be much appriciated.
