Hi there welcome to the boards. Is the consolidation loan a done deal? I only ask because you will be paying interest on interest from the original credit. So usually they aren't recommended. Have you tried snowballing your original debts in the snow ball calculator, and then the consolidation loan payments to see which way you pay more interest. You may be surprised at which one works out cheaper overall.

Well done on realising that you don't need any more baby stuff. It is always handy when you have two of the same sex as you can just pass clothes and toys down to the younger one. Certainly at this age they won't notice or care about it. You just have to make sure you don't worry about it either!

Hope things carry on going well for you

i know all that but we have decided that is the way to go. we want 1 debt to shift rather then 5. believe me has taken a lot of work but that is the best way. like i said at the mo we are paying nearly £700 a month on minimum re-payments so overall it will be better for us.

Just a thought about the kids clothes and stuff....... Have you ever tried your local National Childbirth Trust sales - they were a great source of cheap good quality clothes, toys and equipment when my 2 where little - still get a few bargains now! You can both buy and sell at these sales - all profits go to charity too :)

Tuesday 16th August..........A big spend day but mainly on things we needed.

Washing Machine. Ours is on it's last legs and had to be replaced before it went completly. Found the one we were after at a very good price with 10% discount and free delivery. £399 £359

Got a new Asda express as my local shop so managed the essential food really cheap around £13 with about £3 on special cookies as DS1 was really well behaved (rare in a supermarket) and had been very brave after arguing with a door earlier and cutting his head (luckily not hospital worthy but still too much blood for my liking).
