Nearing the end of a contract - do you need to do anything?

Good afternoon all,
I have a contract with Orange that ends at the end of next month.
Do I need to contact them to confirm that I don't want the contract to roll over, or can I just wait for it to end?
Needless to say, I absolutely don't want to continue with the contract!
There is precious little information about what to do at the end of a contract period on Orange's own site, so if anyone here has had dealings with them, could you lend me some advice please?
Thanks a bunch!

You will have to call them and give them 30 days notice, otherwise it will just continue into a 30 day rolling contract.Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug).0

Give them a call and give notice on the contract, or ask for your PAC code if you wish to transfer your number to another provider.
They may offer you special deals to stay. Be careful about jumping into anything without first researching deals on the internet, as there are lots of SIM-only deals for £10 and under these days, some with loads of cash back from Topcashback or Quidco.0 -
As above, when you look at what you get for the sim only subscription, it will soon be evident that you are paying for the handset during the term of a contract.0

Thanks for your replies all.
I will call them tomorrow and tell them I don't want to continue, and will also cancel the direct debit myself manually in case they have selective deafness with regard to the 30-day contract possibility.
If I was essentially paying for the handset I've been thoroughly ripped off - I shelled out for insurance on it every month and when the handset broke they refused to repair or replace it - I ended up having to sell it on Mazuma and buy another handset to replace it.
Certainly staying away in the future!0 -
Hi, don't stop the direct debit until the account is closed.
Although you may have paid the line rental up to the end, there could be some 'out of tariff' useage that you might owe them.
You don't want to end up with a 'missed' payment on your credit file and have problems getting credit in future.0
