Leaving negative feedback

I put an LCD telly on ebay and the winner did not pay. We had arranged that he was to come round and pick it up paying in cash. I had the date arranged but he did not turn up,phone, ect. I filed this with ebay and have now received my final value fee refund. The buyer contacted me during this time to say the tv had scratches and was not as described. Clearly lying as they had not even seen the TV. Now i would like to give this person negative feedback to warn others of this time waster but im worried thay are able to retaliate and give me negative even though i have done nothing wrong. Any thoughts?

  • If you've opened (and closed by the sound of it) a case - the buyer can't leave FB.

You as a seller can't leave a neg anyway.
  • Ok thanks. So they basically get away with it then. Shame.

if they didn't respond to the Ebay claim and leave you a neg you can have it removed.

They haven't got away with it, as you completed an NPB they will have a strike, 2 in a year & they will have blocked themselves from bidding on most people's listings.
Make sure you've blocked them so they can bid on your stuff again.
  • You're safe. Once an item has either had a Non Paying Bidder strike granted on it OR has been mutually cancelled, neither party can leave feedback.

Mutually cancelled transactions can still have feedback left by both parties....;)

Which is another reason why in some cases (and I am not referring to the case on this thread) a mutual is a bad idea.

Rarely do a mutual if a UID is a viable option

Which is true, but as one NPB gracefully pointed out to me recently they thought it "is alright" if they bid on things and don't pay, because ebay "like it" as that is the reason they stopped buyers from getting negative feedback (appparently).

But generally, yes, if your selling preferences are tight it is sometimes surprising to see how many NPB have been blocked from bidding on your auctions.

No they havent they have a strike. If they get to of these they basically ban themselves from ebay (as most sellers have their preferences set to exclude those with 2 strikes) much more effective than feedback.
