Homecall+ offer on Groupon - any risks?

Hi all,
I'm not advertising the above I just want to find out from others on here whether or not it would be a good idea to take it up in my situation.
My boiler is I think about 20 years old, it's not been serviced in the 6 years I've lived here and has played up sometimes during the winter but a knocking on the front of it seems to sort that.
The offer says it's a clean and service for £39 but surcharges apply to repairs. What I wanted to find out is if the repairs would be optional or compulsory if required? i.e. if the engineer found a fault would he insist I had the boiler repaired before doing any work or do the clean and service regardless?
What worries me most is someone at my work place said someone looked at their boiler and said they had to have it replaced as it was illegal and would cost them £2k to do so.
If my boiler has got some kind of little glitch I don't want to be legally obliged to fix it, I'd rather be in ignorance...
Is this possible?

If I were you I would seriously think about getting the boiler properly checked and serviced - you are risking your life and the life of other occupants by just ignoring it and hoping for the best. Some things really need attention - not ignoring.John0

Homecall went bust earlier in the year, and they were very naughty as well, as they had the insurance licence suspended by the FSA... though they continued to blatantly sell insurance products.....
They have been bought out by HOMECALL UTD.... probably a management buyout, so probably not much will change...
this company dont employee their own engrs either, i believe quite a few of these engineers never got paid for the work they done.....
up to you but personally i wouldnt touch...Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?0
