Wow I didn't include my BTL in this because I've always viewed it as my second pension, to be honest! Although when I took Vol Redundancy it was a consideration to maybe have it to move back into (which I still might have to do at some stage)

Also I have to wait until they do their recalculation sometime in the summer to see what it's state of play is!

But I have been getting mine down - I have another overpayment to do in a week or so and then I will post an update.

  • can I join too please - mortgage outstanding £136470 not sure when it'll be under £100000! needless to say it'll be some time!
  • You're in the right place, sparkly star! Well done and welcome!
  • interesting to see so many people on here with BTLs! i also view ours as investments rather than a drain on finances as (partially thanks to low interest rates) ours are quite profitable each month.

i think for the purposes of this thread/challenge, i will ignore our BTLs for now. particularly as the interest is tax deductible on them and obviously not on the residential mortgages! but if it makes people feel better (!) our total can be updated so as not to leave poor Tilly at the top of the league!

My high interest mortgage runs out Sept '12 so payments will be lowered (phew!). My plan is to pay off the 10% im aloud to each year and do overplayments if we feel the need (im a sav-a-holic!). I would LOVE to be mortgage free in 7-10 years x

    Hi Kitjos, molit, and sparklystar...

My other mortgage isn't technically a BTL as i'm selling it at the moment - it's only if the sale doesn't go through or we don't get another buyer that we'll be renting it out. Once this house has gone my mortgage will be a "reasonable" £166K :rotfl: plus some family loans to pay back so i'll be way down the list - sorry Tilly..
    Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.

  • Hiya Shala_moo, I am definitely feeling quite lonely up very close to the top. I intend running down this hill as quickly as possible bearing in mind I still need to have a life....

    Best wishes, Tilly

    Sadly I qualify.

New house just bought. One old mortgage 2.5% BMR - £32831 remaining - due to be paid off in December 2019

One new mortgage at 186569 () 2.89% fixed - 14 year term, o/p by £500 per mo (if I can). Due to complete in June 2021 if o/ps continue!
Moving house - more debt - bigger house
