i've not mentioned my let to buy in this one for that very reason

Overpayments so far - £500 - Mortgage commenced October 2011
  • Yep, I think being at the bottom of the list is equivalent to scooping the big win.

    good luck all, Tilly

Darn it. I seem have to crept up the list overnight! :o
I'm going to enjoy being part of this challenge, I think! :D
Thanks for the good humour everyone! It makes a big difference.
I'm off to post a letter and then I need to try to work out whether I can afford to take a pay cut AND keep OPing some of my mortgage....:rotfl:

Yeah, I should be much higher up that list. I mentioned in my original post that I was completing on a third house; that's now done, so the total mortgage load is:

    219,559.21 of your finest pounds.

Which puts me... seventh? Figures will be updated in my sig as I go, but it'll be at least 10 years before I'm making any real headway... :D

Hi Tilly, at least you're bottom of the £300k+ mini-league?! (Sorry, the intention was not to rub it in any further!!) :o

  • Hi Twiddy, I am so aiming to get out of the £300k club, the view looks much better from the <£299k club I think.....

I will be updating mortgage figures after 28 November but won't achieve sub £300k sadly - oh well, off to make dinner for family and lodger. High finance one moment, scrubbing spuds the next.

    Best wishes Tilly

    Hi
Could I join too please. We've just bought a house that needs renovating so we have 2 mortgages totalling £120,000 (details in signature). Also have a loan for the renovation work which will need to be paid before any overpayments on mortgages to will be around for a while.
  • eeek! i didn't realise people were including BTLs in this! very sadly, this would bump us up to the "top" of the league with a whopping £520,174 outstanding across BTL and residential. But perhaps I won't keep this figure in mind.... half a million pounds of mortgages...sounds like a lot eh?
I think i will concentrate on the target in hand which is £13,500 overpayment - only £12,500 to go!
    Paying down the mortgage:
    At 1 October 2011: £226,000
    Currently: £224,499
    Aim: 85% LTV (£212,500)
    Paid £1,500
    Target remaining: 88.89%
  • Hi Mel19632, no please join, that would push me down the list a bit ! I won't be able to undertake shalo_moo anytime soon, but am pushing to be <£300k by very early next year.

    Best wishes, Tilly
