I have just received an email from ebay which I don't understand- can anyone help please?
"We recently notified you of a bank reversal filed by ******** ***** for a transaction on 13 Aug 2009. We need a bit more information from you".
There is no record in my ebay messages so I am obv going to check my paypal account but why would it be "reversed" especially if it;s from 2009?? Is this a scam or something??

I've never heard of a reversal after 2 years! Sounds like it's either a glitch or a phishing email. Does it specifically ask you to click on a link in the email? (Never click a link from an ebay/paypal email - always login directly from the browser.) If so it's a phishing scam, just delete it or forward to spoof@paypal.co.uk0

I don't have any advice other than DON'T click on any links contained tin the email!:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0

Actually there is not a link in the email, it says
"To submit tracking information, log in to your PayPal account and go to the
Resolution Centre. Please respond, otherwise this case will be closed and
the funds will be reversed"
However, I am having difficulty with my internet at the moment and can't open paypal??Married my wonderful husband February 2013!:happyhearI want to wear my beautiful wedding dress everyday- it would make shopping so much more fun, I mean, people go shopping in their pyjamas these days.......Must STOP spending!!!Proud to be dealing with my debts!0 -

Help please!!Married my wonderful husband February 2013!:happyhearI want to wear my beautiful wedding dress everyday- it would make shopping so much more fun, I mean, people go shopping in their pyjamas these days.......Must STOP spending!!!Proud to be dealing with my debts!0

UPDATE:
Just received an email from paypal (after my 2nd phone conversation with them where they told me it did appear to be a glitch and they would marl it as urgent that a manager would deal with the issue)
"The payment is held because the buyer’s bank has recalled the payment.
The request to recall the payment could come from the owner of the
bank/card, or from the bank. Kindly note that as this is initiated from
the bank there is no timeframe in place to stop them recalling the
payment even after 2 years and as the bank has taken this action then it
is within their timeframe for this action."
It staes on the paypal site that refunds/disputes re claiming money back have to be within 180 days of the transaction & when I went into my bank B******* on Monday they said the other bank would not be able to take my money a) after 2 years and b) without my consent!
What on earth do I do now?? (In case I haven't mentioned I sold a mobile hone for £170 on ebay in August 2009 and now they want to know if I have proof of posting/tracking number etc? The buyer actually left me feedback saying "good seller" but I have no proof of sending!?)Married my wonderful husband February 2013!:happyhearI want to wear my beautiful wedding dress everyday- it would make shopping so much more fun, I mean, people go shopping in their pyjamas these days.......Must STOP spending!!!Proud to be dealing with my debts!0 -
I have no real idea of how to help, but just wanted to say that it is disgusting if the bank is allowed to recall fees after so long (hopefully it looks like a mistake).
If the funds DO get taken however, I would seriously be baying for blood from both PayPal and my bank manager for letting this happen.0 -

Just a thought but why would the seller leave you feedback if he or she hadn't received the item and of course you wouldn't keep proof of posting after all this time, this is an unreasonable request from pay-pal/ebay they cannot claim this back after 2 yrs that's crazy, hope you get it sorted out £170 is a lot of money.

Just had an email from paypal
"We have completed our investigation. Unfortunately, we are unable toreimburse you for this bank reversal."
My paypal account is showing as minus now but according to by current account funds haven't been taken from there.
I had a huge row on the phone to a supervisor who said that although their website states 180 days there is no limit on a time frame for banks to claim money back and as I can't prove postage/tracking number they have reimbursed her!? I am in shock a) how/why would I keep proof after 2 years (I am a hoarder but not that badly!) b) she left me positive feedback- if she didn't receive the item why wait 2 years to open a dispute??
If I don't use paypal again what will happen- can they send debt collectors round or anything?
My Mum says I should go to the small claims court or CAB but I am not sure if they can help? The only solution Paypal has is for me to "contact the buyer" I told them I tried with the email address I had from our previous correspondence but funnily enough it was coming straight back to me now so it's either closed or full!?

Disgusting. Small claims court all the way for me, plus a trip to the bank manager. :mad:0

Given the strangeness of this, it sounds like it was part of a larger fraud by the buyer.
If it was me I would be sending letters to Paypal's head office (by recorded delivery) asking why this has happened when you believed payment had cleared and mention that you didn't expect to have to keep tracking information for more than 6 months.
CAB does sound like a logical place to get advice. If you don't use your Paypal account too often, I would recommend unlinking a bank account so they can't quickly take your money back.
As an aside, how did you send the phone? If by courier have you not got an email with the details on? I can probably find tracking from up to 5 years ago from my email archive.
I don't think I've heard of another case like this.
It might be worth asking for help on the Paypal boards on Ebay..0
