after any help as i keep being charged £3 for texts from this bloody number, and last time I asked Orange about barring it they were as much use as a chocolate fireguard

This month i have 4 charges, and i have tried texting Stop, STOP, stop all but still keep getting these message and charged.

How can I stop them as I am not happy having to pay orange for a service I dont want and that they appear quite happy to offer no support on stopping!!

Contact the company and demand full refund. If no avail, complain to Phonepayplus.

Orange are happy to offer no support because they get [STRIKE]50%[/STRIKE] up to 50%.

    More like 10-15%
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂
  • If carries on record your call to orange requesting they stop it and get them to confirm they have it on file you have asked prior, then complain to:

    executive.office@orange.co.uk

if it goes on and then request deadlock letter and go to cicas the regulatory body. Costs orange a few hundred each time complaint is raised so they hopefully will want to resolve it.

I am no expert, but "up to 50%" was mentioned many times here.
Yes, I should have added "up to".

    Mobility: Content: A cut above

At present, mobile operators can take up to 50% of the revenue generated through premium SMS, but models vary widely. Jeremy Flynn, former head of commercial partnerships at Vodafone and now CEO of mobile video specialist D2see, says UK operators generally keep around 20% of revenue from premium SMS...........
    ......
But for smaller content platform developers such as Mobiya, the revenue share model breaks down on average to 50/50. Based on the model of a premium SMS costing 1.50, Orange UK keeps 68 pence including VAT while Virgin Mobile keeps a whopping 98p.

    @grumbler,you were correct

They should be able to do many things that they actually fail to do.

What link? To Phonepayplus? Already posted above. They were unable to advise even this, let alone "details of company texts are coming from "

Cancelling subscription to a service is easy.rolleyes.gif
Justrolleyes.gif send the word 'STOP' with no additional text to the short code that has been sending you messages.
You can do this by using the 'reply' function on your handset or by starting a new message and sending it to the same advertised short code that you used to access the service.
If you are subscribed to more than one service using the same short code to send the messages and you wish to cancel all active services then send 'STOP ALL' with no additional text to the short code that has been sending you the messages.
You may continue to receive free promotional messages from any Service Provider whose services you have used - even after you have requested these services to stop - unless you expressly indicated when you subscribed to the service that you did not wish to receive marketing. This is normal and permitted within UK law. These promotional messages should be free for you to receive - you can identify them with 'FreeMsg' either as the sender in your message Inbox or in the message body itself.
You can 'opt-out' from or stop receiving these messages if you so wish. To stop promotional messages, follow the opt-out instructions given in the message which should advise a short code that you can send 'STOP' to. You can also contact the relevant Service Provider and ask them to remove your number from their database. Details of Service Providers can be obtained using the short code search tool available on the Phonepay Plus website. Phonepay Plus is the Regulator for premium rate services (these include short codes that charge over 25p).

I've had 35 billed texts from this number in a year, Ive tried stopping them through Orange, now today Orange decided to give me the company tel no to call 0844 801 4058, turns out to be an Adult Mobile Video company and trying to get through to one of their operators is like trying to get blood from a stone. The other alternative is to put your mobile number in one of the options and hope the texts stop.
