Faulty sony erricson phone on 3

My sons girlfriend has a sony erricson on 3 contract , from upgrade in november, it now will not charge, she has been into 3 store and told nothing they can do should have bought insurance, rang 333 (haha) and was told "buy a new phone". Surely this is not good enough and not fit for purpose, but there seems nothing can be done. Any ideas gratrefully received.

However, if it's a micro/mini-USB port, they are very delicate and it'll be difficult to prove that it is not a damage caused by the user.

I thought 3 phones were covered for the term of the contract. The SE I had before my current phone went wrong 16 months into the 18 month contract. The Three store sent it off for repair, phone was fixed and I was not charged. My current iPhone is covered for the full 2 years of the contract subject to certain exclusions (ditto Grumbler ^^). I triple checked to ensure I didn't need to buy an Apple care plan.

Apparently it is the microport, but it seems very unfair that it is less than 12 months old and useless now, and their attitude is less than aceptable tbh but can't see what further action totake, might try SE themselves worth a phone call

My sony erricson W995 is on O2 and was bought through carphonewarehouse, so I have no idea on 3 I'm afraid, but when my phone broke I took it in and it was covered by the manufacturers warranty for 2 years. I checked on the sony erricson website and that's where I found out it had a 2 year warranty. I assume yours will be covered by that too, so worth making 3 check about that.

Yes that is something we will persue on monday , always happens on a friday!
If it wasn't for the fact that we are all on 3 i would tell her to leave.
