  • Of course, there is another way of looking at this - it makes it a little cheaper for those that travel with hand luggage only (which I have managed on a few occasions!).

If it's in the T&Cs then you shouldn't be complaining. Rather you should be making a mental note to be more shopping savvy next time.

The person who said you don't need a checked in bag per person is correct btw. Get one large but lightweight case, fill it up to just under the weight allowance and take the rest as hand luggage. 50Kg should be more than enough for 3 people in a warm climate for a week or even two.

You don't need a case each. Went to Menorca last week with three children and myself and we took two cases that weighed 18kg each.

Probably could have got away with hand luggage only but I don't have any small cases and it's easier dragging two cases rather than four!
Here I go again on my own....

I'm with the rest on taking less baggage. Our family of 5 ,3 adults and 2 teenagers manage just fine with 3 bags and hand luggage. In fact we were still under the 20kg allowance on each bag last few times.

Did you do a thorough search of flight prices before you booked? Were you pinned down to very specific odd dates?

A very superficial search I've just done 7 nights MAN/LPL to FUE return. Oct term time. 2 adults and 1 child. 3 x 20kg checked in bags plus inclusive hand baggage allowance.

    1/10/11 Ryanair LPL £619
    3/10/11 Easyjet LPL £465
    11/10/11 Thomas Cook MAN £638
    12/10/11 Ryanair LPL £613

You would save a lot more by reducing your checked in luggage, especially on Ryanair

Or does your return flight overlap half term?

    :T

4 other airlines fly here from LPL and MAN alone.

www.flycheapo.com is useful to check out who flies where!
