Although its best not to contact them at all, a letter saying you where not the driver does no harm except encourage them a little more. At least its not an appeal with "I parked my car"

However it is always best practice to ignore the gits from the getgo!!

An appeal letter? It was not an appeal letter, ginger gwar boy, sadly it was you falling for their phishing for info - and you gave it to them.

'I parked' tells them who the driver was, which is the ONLY person they could possibly allege a case against if ever a PPC try Court. Not replying just leaves them with the registered keeper to send letters to, and no clue who the driver was, so there's no chance of a successful Small Claim.

I wouldn't worry, certainly do not contact them again and do not even think about paying the scammers. Just see out the letter-chain you will receive (as shown in pics on the top thread). Most PPCs never go near a Court but next time don't fall for such a con and give them info. Only ever take seriously a ticket from the Police, Council or TFL, no private company can FINE you!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

As Coupon mad has explained confirming you were driving gives the PPC encouragement to push a bit further. It just lets them clear the first hurdle, fortunately they have many more to clear and all of them higher then the last.

Every now and again we find a cherry picked case being tried on, by certain PPC's. This is normally when the person has given them information that helps them. Again fortunately most PPC's wouldn't try it on even if they could, as it not actually worth their while.

Even with conclusive proof most PPC's wouldn't go to court. Even our friend Perky if honest would admit that even his claimed wins leave him in the negative when time and effort are taken into consideration.

Even by admitting you were driving your chances of being taken to court are less then 1%. Even then they would still have to win.
