I have actually now been told she has also taken 3 of my photos from my facebook and put them on hers slating them. One of them isnt even mine, a client posted it herself and tagged me in it and she is furious too,but shes blocked this person as well. Are we really powerless to stop this? i understand some people will say if theyre not copyrighted theyre anyones but how can people just post photos of other people without their permission?

Here is the extensionist in question's website link to the page of the photo also found on website below

A little stange she still hasnt removed it. Am certain it belongs to luxyhair seeing as they have video of the girl to go with it, and they are in fact DIY clip in extensions.

I think if you sit back and take no action she may very well continue unchecked.

Do you know the individual on a personal level - can you pay her a visit?

Hi thanks for all your replies, and thank you deedee and mrbrightside for clearing up the american confusion - this extensionist is based here in the uk,...

I see. Talking about £1000's instead of $10,000's to sue as you seem to be are aware off.

The links you have given here could throw flames on the fire even. Consider deleting them. Just let the fire die out.

It is beginning to get escalate into something like a despute between two neighbour's. Usually no winners in those disputes.

The way I see it is that the te Op should have contacted the american firm as that is the originally agrieved party here. The other firm may have been doing things they should not have, but that was between them and the firm in US who owned the copyright on the other photos.
  • Hi ohreally, no i dont know her on a personal level. Some of my friends have met her and had their hair done by her (before i was an extensionist) but ive never met her myself. Im not bothered about the american websites pics really thats obviously up to them and im sure theyl be in touch with her in due course, i just wish i could do something to stop the bullying against me, because thats all she is, a bully.
Hopefully even her own facebook friends will eventually tire of her constantly talking about me and realise how unprofessional she is. I guess if i never get another customer ive got my children my family and friends and she cat take that from me :(
  • Hi mistral,
youre probably right about the links, but i do know that i cant get in trouble for posting information that is true or a blatant fact. I havnt slated her in any way i have simply stated a fact, and proof of that fact.
I will allow myself that, at least im not making things up about her simply to make myself look better.

EDIT hi yes i did contact the american website and they thanked me for the information

OP - step back, breathe and rise above this obvious adolescent.

Her "website" (I use the term loosely) together with her "testimonials*" speak for themselves.

    * I'm appalled by grammar on there considering it is SUPPOSED to be the website of a professional business (it reads like some sort of teen chat room).

I disagree. It's not a dispute between neighbours, it's between two businesses! The OP's livelihood is at stake.

OP have you contacted Facebook to see what their stance is?

How about getting the USA extensionist onboard to contact Facebook too.

After that, a stern lawyer's letter might be in order as suggested previously.

One thing I will say is that she will be doing her own business a lot more damage. In my experience people do not like nasty behaviour. In fact, I stopped using my local hairdresser as I felt that his assistant was stealing from him (giving extra conditioning treatments and charging the customer but not documenting it on the record, and keeping the extra money). I couldn't have proved anything, and didn't have anything to put in a complaint about, but it felt really uncomfortable. And she never had a good word to say about anyone.

So you could rise above it, and it would go away eventually.

You could send a socitor's letter. I'd be surprised if she carried on after that.

You could email the American website and let them know about the photos (that is kind of irrelevant to your complaint about her).

Hope you decide on something that makes you feel comfortable.

Having made a threat I would advise contacting the Police IMMEDIATELY and if they dont take action then ask to speak to an inspector.

Threats cannot be ignored and she will get a visit.

If you're a good extensionist and she's not (she needs to use other people's work), then just keep doing what you're doing.

Update your FB page with your work, and comments from your clients, and your business will continue to grow. This woman is a distraction and obviously feels threatened.

And talk to the Police regarding the threat
