LA Basketball game tickets

Hey, my boyfriend and I are wanting to go and see a basketball game in the Staples Center in LA while we're there in November. The schedule is now out and there's a game on on the 17th which suits us. I researched this a few months ago and it said the tickets where available on the 24th August, but now somewhere else is telling me it's the 1st October. We really want to go so I don't want to miss the date they go on sale. Has anyone been to a game before and knows when they could buy tickets, and also how much they were, and how long the game lasted? I can't seem to find any information on this!

There are single game tickets available through ticketmaster for all October games so I'd imagine the November tickets will be available in the next coup0le of weeks.
I went to watch the LA Clippers v Dallas Mavericks in the 2009 season. Paid $22 for tickets in the nose bleed section. The same tickets look like they are $32 each for the Lakers.
The game lasts about 2 hours from start to finish (unless there is overtime).
The game you're looking at is Lakers v Nicks. I'm imagining these tickets will be hard to come by as NY are now a decent team.
If your schedule allows might be worth going to the Clippers game on Saturday 19th.0 -
Hiya,
I went to see the Lakers vs Detroit Pistons back in 2007 & bought my tickets through Ticketmaster. Booked the tickets on 6th October & the game was on 16th November. Im usually quite organised with things like this, so im guessing that this was the first available day to buy them
Total cost was $73 for 2 adults. The game lasted approx 3hrs, it was also a televised event, so the game would just stop mid-play for adverts!!
Dont know if this is of any interest to you, or if you will still be in town, but the Victorias Secret fashion show gets held in November at the Kodak Theatre. I got to see a few celebs like Slash, Ryan Seacrest & Hayden Panetierre walking the red carpet. Also, the American Music Awards are on the 20th November, you may be able to get tickets for this.
Hope this helps you in some way,
Caroline

I think you need to look up the latest news on the NBA and the lock-out. There is a very high probablility there will be no play this year or a very shortened season. A lot of the top stars are currently talking about coming to play in the euro-league.0

Good point... completely forgot about that. Saying that, basketball is very, very forgettable...I think you need to look up the latest news on the NBA and the lock-out. Forgot to say earlier - I bought my tickets from the Staples center just before the game0 -

This was very helpful! I love Victorias Secret (I have around 15 bottles of their secret garden refreshing mist in my room) so would be very interested in seeing a fashion show if it's on when I'm there. How do you find out about when it's on etc?0 -

How were your seats? I was looking at the map a few months ago and it doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
It's my boyfriend who mostly wants to go, I'd just love to go to any american sports event since there isn't much were I'm from apart from Ice hockey, but I've actually heard of these two teams which is good. Sadly the Saturday game doesn't fit in with our schedule, we arrive in LA on the 16th and leave for Vegas on the afternoon of the 20th and there's a few other things we wanted to do.0 -

Just a little correction for you. Play is not stopped mid-play for adverts. Each team has 6 charged timeouts and 1 20sec timeout each half. The TV breaks will come EITHER:
1/ At the first deadball situations after so many minutes of the quarter, or
2/ When either team uses one of their timeouts before the set times.
What you will have noticed is a team taking a timeout with the ball in play, and the TV using this timeout for an advert break.
For the first 2 scheduled TV breaks, one is charged to the home side and 1 is charged to the away side. For the last two, neither team is charged with a timeout.
As Neil says, highly forgettable sport, and the first 58minutes should simply be done away with.0 -
The seats were fine. High, but a clear view. But that's what you get for $22Traincrashing wrote: »How were your seats? I was looking at the map a few months ago and it doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

If you want seats lower you're talking close on $100 a ticket I would imagine.
Other options than ticketmaster.com are stubhub.com (you might need a US zip code for this?) and scalpers (touts) around the stadium. I'm guessing this will be a popular game (Lakers are very popular and there will be lots of New Yorkers living in LA) so prices will be above face value on these 2 options.0 -

i had a quick google earlier & couldnt find any dates for this years show, they do have a Facebook page though
https://www.facebook.com/#!/VSFashionShow
i didnt have tickets for this, i only saw celebs walking the red carpet, so am not sure if tickets are available for the general public.
Im pretty sure you can get tickets for the AMA's though. Iirc, Beyonce was playing the year we were there. I only found out about this event whilst we were in LA so didnt getto got there either!! Maybe next time.

This explanation obviosly makes more sense
. I just remember the player would be dribbling the ball, then stop all of a sudden. My OH had been chatting to the guy next to us & he said it was for the ad breaks.
I really recommend going to see a game, it is a really good night out. They have entertainment on between quarters & you can see the cheerleaders! I got myself a big foam finger & a huge tub of popcorn & candyfloss! Great fun!0
