i am afraid recorded delivery is a service some of the delivery staff (mailmen no women?) of RM are unaware that a signature is required.
i send my items by RD just like you to cover my back, but only 10% that i send actually get a signature yet 100% are delivered. complain to RM and they just tell you to complete a lost item form, even though you tell them the item was delivered but only pushed in letter box without signature that you paid for, but yiu still need to fill in the form and explain, then all you get is a pack of 6 1st class stamps, which to me is useless as i use the RM online postage service, so now i dont even check to see if the items are signed for.
fixed that for you0 -
Well, this is a bargain from RM isn't it? You pay 75p extra for signed for and they give you back 6 stamps worth £2.76! Keep checking for signatures.

When work required me to use recorded I got so many books of stamps that I actually had a ready reckoner that told me how many stamps I needed for each wieght band and how many single 1p or 2p stamps I had to buy to make up the balance.
Wasn't a bad return, all those stamps as compensation for 77pI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. It's not just RM - I had a bad experience in Sainsbury's once. I was kept waiting at the checkout for a slow cashier who was dealing with something that really should have been referred to Customer Services, who was insulting when I apologised for a shirty remark, and the incident almost made me miss my last bus home. I got a £5 voucher in compensation.
The thought occurred to me that I could just write however many letters I liked and get a fiver every time. I didn't - I wouldn't dare, but I'm surprised RM didn't think you were a troublemaker."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4
