eBay & Thieving Buyers

Sold an item - Buyer messages me to say it's arrived yet opens a claim for INR saying the message was an error
Can someone please explain how and why eBay allows pretty much anyone to claim INR on pretty much anything? Do they even have any form of monitoring or suchlike in place?
Is sending every single item special delivery the only option? Recorded not worth the extra as I've had 2 low value claim's refused in the last month
I know there are thousands of items that sell and arrive safely and the losses are in the minority but it's now becoming too common to believe all the items are going 'astray' as I've never had one item returned by the RM as undelivered!
Sorry but it's seriously getting on my nerves!

I agree too many dishonest buyers AND sellers wanting something for nothing. Of course there will be the odd thing lost, misdelivered or damaged in transit but I have had so many people try it on that i now send everything recorded (which means my p&p prices are extortionate but hey ho just covering my back!)0

I'd have a look at your listings OP. Has anything recently changed that may be encouraging these buyers? Something you have put in your listings? The type of product you are selling? I'd have a good look at what you are doing just in case there is something you can do to minimize it. Your saying its becoming more common i've never had anyone I suspect of making a false claim and my losses are about the same as they have always been with RM. I set my buyer preferences quite high and yes, I might get less sales but I've yet to have a INR claim. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0

I'd watch yourself there. I make a LOSS on a lot of the postage, but I only have 4.69 DSR on P&P charges meaning I'm just at Standard performance and my account is in jeopardy if anyone else moans about it. I even gave one moaning cow a partial refund on a postage charge which had already left me out of pocket so she wouldn't neg me or make my DSRs worse.0 -
I think if someone is attracting a lot of false claims (and how does any seller know they are fake if item isn't tracked?) then getting someone else to look through their listings might be in order as there might be somehting attracting problems.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Are you using recorded delivery for low value items? There are quite a few reports that buyers dont like this as they see it as a waste of money (which it is) so they mark sellers down for using a more expensive method than was needed.Flickering_Ember wrote: »I'd watch yourself there. i am afraid recorded delivery is a service the delivery staff (mailmen) of RM are unaware that a signature is required.
i send my items by RD just like you to cover my back, but only 10% that i send actually get a signature yet 100% are delivered. complain to RM and they just tell you to complete a lost item form, even though you tell them the item was delivered but only pushed in letter box without signature that you paid for, but yiu still need to fill in the form and explain, then all you get is a pack of 6 1st class stamps, which to me is useless as i use the RM online postage service, so now i dont even check to see if the items are signed for.0 -

Every time you post about recorded I wonder the same thing, if it doesn't work why do you use it? Exactly how is it covering your back if it doesn't track anyway?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. How is it covering your back if only 10% get a signature? That is such flawed logic why waste money using it if its not working?

No, I use second class standard (always with proof of postage). I don't sell event tickets but if I did, it would be sent special or recorded. I do give buyers the option. If I was selling something like a camera or phone, I'd use SD as well. I've sold some larger electricals and they go ParcelForce and I use tracking. I do my best to keep postage costs down.0
