Electric window drivers side keeps going

Over a year ago we paid out £60 to have the electric window the drivers side fixed as it got jammed. Problem is, it keeps going. Cant open it at all now cause even if attempted the window gets stuck and then cant close it. The back windows are manual, just the front ones electric. Passenger side window is fine.

Question, how much would it cost to have the front electric doors converted to manuals? or a rough estimate?
Would it be worth the while or not?

We cant afford to buy another car and cant afford an exchange either as would not get much on car we have now as its already 2nd hand from a relative, and before he had it, a person before him had it.

Its a ford car. 16 power Engine.

aha the old ford cortina 1600 power with electric windows
must be a harry moss conversion most of them were manual
normally the converter box was fastened onto the spindle on the outside of the doorcard
remover motor source from winder spindles replace with original type handles handles (try ebay) and job done:)

Nah its a Ford YT16 Tractor Lovely machine.

Without knowing the exact model and year of the car the post is a bit useless.

You may have a car that was never fitting with front manual windows. Dont forget you will probably
need to change the door cards/trim as well. Worth it? Depends what the car is worth to you.

If its a £100 shed that just scrapes through the MOT each year then probably not, Avoid carparks where you
need to take a ticket as you drive in and toll booths.

N Reg Ford Escort 16V. The seal is also broken inside the boot so when it rains the inside of the boot gets wet. It has a knock on it as well from previous owner. Husbands nephew who gave it to us. Nephew didn't look after it very well although the body is not that great the engine is very good. It also needs this as well.

    List below complete

    near side outer
    offside outer
front constant velocity joint gator deteriorated.
Electric window not work drivers side.
Leak on the boot from broken seal.

Engine very good just the body is not so great.

One of my old cars had the same problem with the window, I had it fixed a couple of times, then gave up, and decided I didn't need to open my window. A friend fixed it by stripping off the inside door panel, and putting the chain for the window back on the runners, as it had slipped off - I have no idea how easy it was for him to do, but it didn't take that long, and only cost me a couple of pints, so, if you know someone who can do it, it would probably be worth it.
Alternativley, just open your door - although, as stated above, it scares people in toll booths and parking attendants in boxes. I did manage to train my daughter to lean out her window and press buttons to get tickets after a while, and she's only 8!

    Don't know why you've attracted all the crap from the "usual suspects" but the simple answer is;

If the car was available without electric front windows, then get a set of winders from a breakers yard and convert to manual, simples girl

Probably £30 plus the payment to whoever to fit the conversion , ;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
