What basecoat and finish in six hours ? . Sounds very fast !

Maybe that's why they billed so many hours. 2 hours to apply base coat, 3 days drying, 2 hours to apply finish coat.

sorry getting confused with my measurements. 6 sq metres is about right.

Yes i should have got a quote but I was going to use the guys who did my bedroom but they offered to do it and I trusted them.
I feel bad because I do like them and the older guy is really lovely but he says he just does what he is told to do.
when they mended the slate I actually asked if it was better to replace all the slates in the one section of roof and he said no, don't want to spend all that money when hopefully it may just be 1 slate. Now some other builders might have just done it for the money. So I thought they could be trusted for a fair price.
I didn't expect it to be extra cheap just a fair price.
I feel sort of let down if that makes sense.

Was amazingly quick yes! The secret to their speed was they didn't wait for the basecoat to dry out fully before putting on the finish plaster.

no cracks ? . Sounds good if it worked ! .

I think I am being taken for a mug! 2 guys, one in his 70's, they have been mending slates on my roof for the last 10 years and I get on with them really well and when they came to fix a leak which was 1 tile I said I was going to get the wall plastered and they offered to do it. In the past I have had 4 walls in the kitchen replastered & a wall rendered and skimmed plus ceiling skimmed in my bedroom, so have an idea of cost. But what they are charging seems really high.

I have asked for an itemised invoice and it has :
    8 bags Sand
    2 Bages cement
    2 bags bonding
    2 bags of thistle
    1 tub of PVA
    1 tub of Water proofer

don't want to say how much they charged wondered what others on here would expect to pay first.

    Thanks

I suppose I was basing it on what I was charged for my other rooms.

    The kitchen was charged at £100 a wall = £400 (2 guys)

My bedroom was covering exposed brickwork on 1 wall and then skimmed. also fresh coat on the ceiling. £250 (1 guy and his son)

Yes, I might have to put it down to experience but I don't think I would use them again.

Thats the norm, rough in the morning & plaster in the afternoon, any decent spread does it that way, if you leave it till next day then you have to pva the walls to kill the suction
