Little Hulton Manchester, Good, Bad?

A relative is trying to get her foot on the housing ladder. Ideally 3 beds and garden and ex corpie house usually tick them box's. She is thinking of buying in Little Hulton, price being the dominant factor, plus commuting location is not bad either. The guy who services our car swears Little Hulton is on the up, he was forced to buy there 5 years ago, and now is quite happy with his purchase.
But it was on HUTH again this morning and it did look awful, and even now you mention the area to anyone, you are more than likely to get an negative response, I think it still has rightly or wrongly the worst reputation in the North Manchester area. Put a couple of links for you to look at if your bored.
Anyone who lives there wants to venture their opinion it would be gratefully received.

LH is always thought of as being rough.
However, I was brought up in Eccles and everyone thinks that's bad. I wouldn't live in some bits of it, TBH.
There's good and bad bits everywhere though.I am a mortgage broker. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. The first one is a 3 bed house for £45k!No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
my fiance and her family have in little hulton, if its where i think it is then stay well clear, i think its near farmfoods and the new morrisons, there is a pub near there (on the crossroads) and to say it has a reputation is putting it very lightlyWho remembers when X Factor was just Roman suncream?0

The bars on the second house windows should be enough to put you off
:eek:0 -
I wouldn't even drive through little Hilton, nevermind live there. Isn't it just one massive council estate, failed social town planning?
I live in South Manchester"I'm not from around here, I have my own customs"
For confirmation: No, I'm not a 40 year old woman, I'm a 26 year old bloke!0 -
I didn't notice the bars, it was the England flag that put me off. I don't see any point in getting on the housing ladder at any price. Better to rent somewhere in a better area isn't it ?0

I grew up in Little Hulton and when I lived there it was ok. My sister still lives there now (I'm the fiancee mentioned by split second). It's not so bad where she lives, but I wouldn't move back any time soon...and like I said...I spent 14 years there. Those two houses mentioned above are on bus routes that were diverted in the evenings because they had frequent attacks on them in the evenings. They used to avoid that area after 7pm(ish) I think. Not sure if they still do now.

walkden is ok but LH as the locals call it is the pits - police don't go on the estates on an evening, full of hoodies. 3 large council estates and if you're from one and go on the others be careful (no offence to council estates as i'm from one). quite a scary place on a night. there are good people who live there but outnumbered by the scrotes
i'm from walkden/worsley originally and still have family there'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0 -
All of the above. Its rough as old nuts. Stay well away. Walkden is fine but watch out for houses claiming to be in "Walkden" which are actually LH - the Quarry Pond Road estate ("new" build estate, not council) is particularly bad for that - sometimes even claims to be "Worsley" (which much nicer than walkden - the sort of place ManU footballers live in!).0
